The lid was closed to hard causing the door strike, lid lock bezel and assembly to break.
Changing the door strike was simple just a quarter turn and it pops off. Changing the assembly, remove the screws from the back side at the top, move to facing the front of the machine pull the top toward you about a half inch and it will open. From the back unplug the correct wire, remove assembly and then install in reverse. Good luck.

Hi Dorothy, thank you for asking. The part you are looking for is the door strike, part number PS16218028. It attaches to the washer lid and activates the lid switch when the lid closes. To replace the strike, push in on the door strike and rotate it counterclockwise to remove the old or broken door strike. Insert the new door strike into the slot, and turn clockwise to lock it into place. We hope this information is useful!
The lid was slammed shut to hard and the black piece under the metal that the lid lock bezel white one would clip into I'm guessing. It broke and now the lid lock bezel will not stay in and the black piece under it just slides around. Causing the lid to not close and machine not operate.
