The agitator quit working.
I originally thought that gears in the 'transmission' were slipping. When I applied pressure, not much, the agitator turned. I went out and bought a new machine. When I removed the old one my mechanic friend said "just pull this cover off and you will see the problem." Sure enough, the actual fix time was about 15 minutes with 45 minutes cleaning the dust and dirt out of the machine from it sitting on the back porch for 9 months.

agitator not turning
I pried the cap off with a screw driver. I then used a socket wrench to take the bolt off inside the agitator cavity. A quick tug upward and the whole agitator unit came off. I assembled the new kit per instructions and replaced the old one. I reassembled everything in reverse. Everything works like new.

Top agitator didn't agitate
Unplugged washer from 110 outlet.
Lifted up plastic lock down ring, to remove soap dispenser, pulled off soap dispenser.
Used a short plain screwdriver to remove plastic cap.
Used a 3/8 drive ratchet with an extension and a 7/16 socket to remove bolt. Lifted up and removed agitator. Sat agitator on a rag,as there Is a little grease.I put my feet on the bottom agitator and pulled up. Had to kind of pull and jerk as the top part of agitator came apart harder than expected.
The plastic thrust washer between agitators fell on the floor. I re-used It, but bought a new one at a later date.
I replaced broken plastic coggs and put back together.

Replace Dog Ears that were deteriorated
This repair would have taken only about 15 minutes but my husband didn't pay attention to how the agitator and parts came apart. And because he had had a cocktail, couldn't quite figure out how to put it back together. Luckily, I had printed out an exploded view of the agitator so was able to put it back together myself. Moral of the story, don't let your husband drink while doing repairs :), and make sure to pay attention how you take it apart. The diagram was "generic" so not everything was exactly the same, but it was close enough to figure out.

Top agitator did not catch
After taking the agitator cover off with a thin flat screwdriver, i unbolted the agitator, took the top agitator off and put the new dogs in the new cam. One minor problem: due to the age, the rubber washer around the bolt fell apart. Had to make an unexpected trip to the hardware store, but no biggie. Unbolting the agitator was a bit of a challenge by myself, as I had to put significant force to the nut while holding the agitator from spinning. Once i got it loose, came right up and out. When reinstalling, you have to watch to make sure the dogs don't fall out of the cam, but after a couple tries, it went on, got tight, and no problems. Now its running great.

No motion in top agitator.
Repair was very simple as others have stated. I also had to break the small tabs holding the cam in place. The only other element I have to add is the original cam assembly is better quality than the supplied one, even so I replaced it, however kept the old one. Look for a small slot under the agitator cap to insert the screw driver. As is turned out, all I needed was the dogs, therefore, you may want to take it apart first to see if that's all you need. The small ridges in the dogs wear smooth, and no longer grip the gear ring on the agitator body.

spin cycle did not activate
Replaced hinge switch. Still no spin cycle. Noticed hinge bearing cracked & if hinge forced into switch, spin activated. Ordered new hinge bearings.Spin cycle still didn't engage. On further examination, observed that hinge was bent. Straightened hinge & worked like a charm. Didn't really need new switch or bearings. NOTE : Avoid having washer door bang shut.Took longer than expected, but each procedure was simple.
