LSE1000T Maytag Dryer - Instructions

Followed the directions in your video. ( should have viewed it first as it would have saved me time.

This repair is very easy. The video on partselect.com explains exactly how it's done. My only difficulty was getting the belt back on the tensioner (which incidentally the partselect video described as the only difficult part of the repair.
I wasn't able to get the belt on the tensioner when the pulley was under tension from the spring. After a few minutes of frustration, I unhooked the spring from the pulley, put the belt on the pulley and pretty easily reattached the spring.
The dryer now operates quietly and perfectly. Amazingly this maytag is drying clothes for it's fourth generation in my family. I'm glad it was such an easy and inexpensive repair.

Tried to replace drive belt. Squeaking continued. Tried to lubricate rollers. Squeaking improved for a short time. Returned. Replaced rollers. Problem solved.

I followed the descriptions from other do-ti-yourselfers on your web site and the "fix" was quick and easy. It took me longer to file my snap-ring pliers , made in China of course, to fit the snap-rings than it did to make the repair.

Replaced the roller and shaft. The bearing on the roller had worn out and then worn down the shaft. We let this go on for over a year. The shaft was worn half away. Found the service manual for my dryer online and used it as a guide to taking it apart. First door, then a couple of screws. Removed belt, then drum. Replaced rollers and shaft. The damaged parts were obvious. The rollers and shafts require the socket and snap ring pliers. There was a layer of rust dust all over the inside of the dryer. Vacuumed out all of the lint and rust. Put everything back together. Works great now, no squeaking.

Replaced the glide bearings on the front of the dryer since the bearings were worn and the front of the tub showed signs of wear. This did not fix the screeching noise. Turns out it was the belt idler pulley. It spun freely and without making noise when I spun it with my finger. However, when I placed a little tension on it and spun it slowly I was able to duplicate the noise. I removed the roller and lubricated the arm it rides on. It hasn't made the noise since.

Removed the door which gave access to remove the front panel. Then removed screws that hold down the top. Lifted the top, finished removing all of the screws holding the drum cover. Lifted the drum up and slid it forward which gave access to the rollers in the back. I needed snap ring pliers to remove the rollers. Cleaned and greased the shafts, installed the new rollers and put it back together. All is working fine and quiet.

I removed the front panel of the dryer and the assembly that holds the tumbler in place to see what was causing the grinding noise. After seeing some worn parts I went on partselect.com and entered the model number of my dryer. I was provided with diagrams that told me which parts needed to be replaced. I watched the repair video for the Front Glide Kit which was VERY helpful. I ordered 2 front glide kits and a drum felt seal on a Sunday afternoon and paid for overnight shipping. I verfied that my parts shipping first thing on Monday and had them by Tuesday morning. I completed the repairs when I got home from work on Tuesday. There was no repair video for the drum seal but the repair descriptions from the other customers were helpful enough to guide be through. The hardest part of the repair was putting the assembly that holds the tumbler back in place. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get it in place and get the felt seal tucked outside of the tumbler. Once I got it all back together (nice to have to video to make sure I got everything back correctly) I plugged it in and turned it on...ah, a nice quiet dryer again! Thanks PartSelect! It's nice to save money AND repair things myself easily and correctly.

When the dryer noise grew to an unbearable level, professional opinion indicated that it was "definitely" caused by the drum support rollers. First I ordered the wrong rollers and Parts Select was kind enough to let me return them. Then I got the right parts and with internet-sourced instructions, they were relatively easy to replace, although it did require removal of the drum. But that didn't solve the problem. Another round of research said that the noise was "probably" the blower fan. I ordered the right fan and in much less time than it took to install the support rollers, I put in the new blower fan (it didn't require removal of the drum). That solved the problem. While the support rollers may wear out, I strongly suggest that you look at the blower fan first when the dryer makes too much noise. It's a cheaper and easier repair and that part is more likely to cause the rumble.

i took front cover off,then removed front drum support. pulled out dryer basket and replaced wheels and shafts. problem solved!!!

I didn't find the video demonstrating diss-assembly until I had the dryer apart-it would have saved quite a bit of time. The drum roller apparently seized up and tore the roller shaft away from the drum roller support housing. I found a piece of scrap metal in my shop, drilled and tapped it to mount behind the damaged area. I drilled a hole to accommodate the roller shaft and reassembled. The dryer worked but was extremely noisy. I assumed the roller and shaft were damaged beyond what was visible and ordered two new rollers and shafts from partselect.com. They said to allow 5-7 days, I received them in less than 36 hours. I diss-assembled the dryer again, installed the new rollers and shafts (now in less than 30 minutes)and reinstalled the drum and belt. The dryer is now at least as quiet as when it was new and we spent less than $50 instead of the $550 we were prepared to spend on a replacement dryer.

UNPLUG THE UNIT First, I removed the 2 screws from bottom of the front panel. I removed the panel and disconnected the switch wires. Next, I removed the 4 bolts from the front tumbler support with a socket. I removed the tumbler, but left the belt inside. I cleaned up the inside as much as possible and removed both support rollers with a 1/2 in. straight wrench. (Save the nuts.) I removed the clips to reuse with the new shafts, attached the new washers and rollers, and resecured the shafts in place. Next reset the tumbler with the belt slacked over the back support. Let the tumbler rest on the blower pipe to allow slack to bring the belt over the tumbler and around the drive and idler wheel. Then, set tumbler back into rear seat and reattach front support and panel. I tested the unit before attaching the front panel. Works great!!

I watched the video on the web site, that helped a lot and made my repaires like the video showed.

Removed two screws at bottom of front cover and removed it.Pulled tub forward about 8".Removed nut on back of roller assembly and removed it.Replaced wheel then put back together.
