LSE1000T Maytag Dryer - Instructions

Watched the repair video, went from there. My belt tensioner was different than what was shown on the video. That took a little more time to figure out how to reinstall. A picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to repairs! Thanks

First I'd like to say I ordered the parts one day and got them the next. That kind of service is awesome!

Pulled off the front panel (Removed the 2 screws at bottom then lifted up and out from the bottom. Set it to the side. Then removed the 4 screws holding the front of tub housing in place and pulled the housing to the side. Pulled the tub forward a few inches to expose the drum roller wheels located toward the back of the tub. Didn't pull the drum very far forward because I didn't want the drive belt to come off the pulleys. Removed the retaining clip from the first wheel and then removed the 2 rub washers and the wheel. Repeated the same to the other wheel. Pushed the tub back in place. Reached in around the tub and repositioned the belt to the front of the grove in the drum in which the wheels run. Reassembled the front tub housing, making sure the blower flange fit evenly and well into the felt sleeve. Reinstalled the front panel. Smiled when I turned on the dryer and it was quite. I didn't install the front glide kit though I may in the future since they are fairly warn.

I'm an amateur!! I took my laptop to the basement and watched your video while I did the repair, stopping and replaying when necessary. The only thing that I found difficult is that my dryer is put together slightly different than the one in the video. But after some trial and error, I got it all figured out. The part you suggested solved the problem. Thanks!

I unscrewed 2 screw's from bottom of dryer and lifted off front. Removed 4 5/16 screw's and lifted off front drum. Removed belt and took out drum. Removed front drum roller's and replaced them. Used snap ring pliers. They are a big help.
Replaced drum but not all the way. Placed new belt on drum about 1/2 inch in front of groove. Flat side down, looped it over idle pulley and motor. Put drum in place. Replaced Front Guide's 2. Drilled out old rivet's 1/8" drill. Replaced front drum cover and 4 screw'. Replaced front of dryer and 2 screw's. The video showing how to do job was very helpful, watch it. PartSelect do a great job, I don't think I would have tried this job without their help. Dryer works like new.

Unplug unit from wall. Removed front cover,2 screws at base. Removed clip holding roller on shaft. Then realised front drum support would have to be removed,4 hex head screws. This allowed drum to be moved forward toward front to allow removal of roller an installing new one.

It was nickle and dime. 2 screws off came the front cover. Turned the mechine around unbolted the shaft, installed the new one, done.

First, take off the door. That lets you take off the front panel. Remove three screws on each side and take out front panel that holds the drum in place. Be care full there are wires in the lower right corner. Reach your left hand in under the drum and undo the belt off the pulley. pull the drum strait out.A 7/16 wrench behind the roller shaft will remove shafts.I'm not a rocket scientist and it only took me an hour and fifteen min. PS The rollers are not bearings, so I could have let them scream for probably months, before I fixed it, . Good luck

I had previously removed the front cover to try to identify source of squeak. I suspected drum support roller, and found WD-40 on roller stopped squeak for a while, but it would return. I ordered replacement roller and shaft. To repair, I removed front cover, then front support piece holding tumbler, then pulled out the tumbler (after pulling off belt). I was able to remove shaft snap pin (after buying tool), then old drum support roller, and finally shaft with wrench. I screwed in new shaft, inserted new roller, and replaced all parts. Getting the belt back on in the right way was a little tricky. I would reach under tumbler with right hand and pull on tensioner with pinky while pushing belt around drive pulley with thumb. I first had belt running through the wrong path so it made a bad noise. I fixed that, then shortly it came off idler pulley when running. Finally I got it on, apparently correctly, as it now seems to work fine, and more smooth and quiet than I ever remember. You have to lean close to even tell its running. Very happy now!!

I read all of the reviews and what people used to fix the problems. I ordered a drum support roller and a shaft. I didn't realize you needed two of each. After taking everything apart, I didn't have the tool to take off the retainer ring around the shaft. I pryed off the ring, and replaced the support roller. The second roller looked worse so I replaced it with the other used roller. It took forever to get the ring on with out the correct tool. I did get the rings on with a needle nose pliers, but it doesn't have much tension left. The dryer sounds great. It did take me some time to figure out how the tension worked for the drum band, but I eventually figured that out. Now I bought the tool for the ring retainers, another new drum support roller and shaft, and I plan on installing them all some day soon. The ring retainer took most of the time as it kept flying off with the washer. Don't start the project with out the proper tool to install the ring, unless you a lot of time on your hands.

Unplug power to dryer!

First I removed the two screw holding the front door, and the screw on the other side, which hold the front panel in place. Then remove the next panel, which has the lint capture basket in it. Two screw in opposite corners hold this in place. After you remove these, the drum (part where the close go in) will drop and come out. Keep in mind, you will have to un-attach the belt from the motor. This is very easy, as its help in place by a tensioner pulley. Self explanatory on that one.
Next pull the drum, so you can get to the bearings. Use your snap-ring pliers to remove the snap rings and swap out the couplers. Follow the procedure in reverse. If you're mechanical, it should take about a hald an hour or so, but if you're not, your looking at an hour and a half.

When done, plug dryer back in and test tub rotation.

3 times I simply lubricated the roller shaft which only bought me a few weeks of peace. The metal on metal shaft/roller simply wore out and needed
to be replaced. By now I was getting very good at
disassembling the dryer so installing the new parts was quick and easy. The real trick was using
the model number to get a full detailed break-down to order the correct parts. If you don't see the diagram, keep trying variations on the model number until you do.

Disconnected dryer, took off front, took off screen housing, took belt off pulley and lifted out tub. Removed snap rings from roller shaft and removed rollers. Then removed roller shafts. Reversed procedure and added new shafts, rollers, washers, nuts and snap rings. Put tub in and put belt on pulley. Replaced auto dry sensor before replacing lint screen housing and connected wiring. Put front on and connented dryer. Be very careful when working with roller shafts. My wrench slipped and I ended up with 8 stitches in my right hand. The sheetmetal is sharp!

From the back, i released the spring to the roller holding tension on the drum belt. I took the front off and was able to reach the nut holding the roller shaft to the assembly with a half inch open end wrench. Then i worked the roller and shaft off, assembled the new shaft and roller and worked it onto the bracket and put nut back on and tighten it with the half inch wrench. The dryer sounds good now.

First I remove the dryer front, then remove the portion behind the front called the drum support bracket,then remove drum and belt ,removed the old drum rollers by removing the ring clips, slide the old drum rollers,old washers off the shaft,then install new washers and drum rollers, then reinsalled the drum,belt, drum support and front.Job complete not compicated at all.

removed front cover, pulled out drum, used ring spreader to remove metal retaining ring from old roller. Put in new roller and reassembled everything. Annoying squeak gone!! :)
