Pop the center cap off the agitator and snap the dispenser in. Easy as 1-2-3.

pull up and off the fabric dispenser, remove the nut in the middle, and pull the piece off. underneath are 4 plastic things (dogs) that will just fall out. replace them (because they have little plastic things that jut out) and wear away. maneuver the piece back in place and tighten the screw back into place.

Turns out the agitator directional cogs were really worn and chipped so they werent allowing it to rotate therefore my clothes were not comming out clean. Also upon taking apart the agitator i saw that the fabric softener dispenser was VERY clogged with gunk! I had bought this appliance used so i really had no idea.
So first i removed the fabric softener dispenser, then the cap then i loosened the 7/16th bolt to release the top 1/2 of the agitator and then took the dogs (or cogs as other people call them) out and replaced them, then did the steps in reverse to put it back together. Before i put it together i had to really clean all the gunky build up.
Works like a charm!

Fabric softener dispenser snaps in. Apply sideways pressure to snap out. Reach inside agitator and remove agitator cap barrier seal by pulling on tabs. Using socket with extension remove center bolt and rubber seal. Remove upper agitator assembly. Follow instructions provided in agitator repair kit to replace and re-install ratchet ratchet dogs and carrier. Reassemble in reverse of disassembly. Note: Apply a small amount of liquid dish washing detergent to agitator barrier cap seal to ease in re-installation.

Just bought my washer and dryer from Home Depot, but bought an Admiral model that didn't come with a fabric softener dispenser. Ordered the part from PartSelect and after rocket fast shipping installed it in seconds. The installation required no tools as the dispenser just snapped right in. First take Fabric Softener Dispenser and cap off Agitator, locate nut, unscrew and wiggle up and out. Agitator Repair Kit comes with the cam dogs and assembly that you put together. (They will only fit one way) I opted to get the Upper Agitator as well since the old one had frayed edges. It is easier to turn over the Upper Agitator and place the assembled Repair Kit inside it then turn over and replace in original position. Using old nut, screw to the lower agitator. Replace cap and Fabric Softener Dispenser.

Removed the cover where the dispenser would have been installed and snapped the new one in. 5 minutes. When useing the dispenser after adding softener make sure to fill the dispenser with water to dilute and prevent staining.

I watched the video, it went step by step, the screws were not the same as on the video but not hard to figure out how to take control top off. The rest was easy, the video was so easy to follow. The only problem I had was trying to put the cabinet back on the base, I had to have my husband help me, otherwise it was easy. This is the first time I have ever tried to fix a washing machine, I had been looking at new ones, but I decided to try my hand at fixing the problem and I am glad I did,my husband is so proud that I did it by myself that he is telling all our family and friends. Removed the stud bolt in the ag[tator and removed the agitator from the machine. J then seperated the agitator in two pieces and installed the new dogs.I then installed the agitator back in the washing machine and it performed beautifully

Removed agitator found the agitator dogs were broke, identified all parts needed ordered from PartSelect, recieved all parts , repair was very simple 10 min job , works great! Saved lots of money !
