Agitator top not working properly but fix was easy
The washer was a dud. The top part of the agitator wasn't working at all, just spinning freely. Concluded that the problem was broken cogs at a minimum. Watched some on-line videos and saw what was involved in taking it all apart and putting everything together with new parts. I decided instead to replace the whole agitator, plus new bolt and cap instead of the various internal broken components. Glad I did. The repair was done in minutes - take out the agitator top/dispenser, agitator cap and attached o-ring, unscrew the bolt, yank out the whole agitator, put new one in, screw in bolt, and cover with the cap and replace old dispenser on top. Happy too that I got the new bolt with the washer because the old washer was ripped and out of round. The parts came very quickly - couple of days. A number of links to instruction videos and some instructions from several sources were sent with the shipping Email. This was an unexpected nice and helpful service bonus. Wasn't used to anyone providing extra help. I didn't look at the videos because I had done that before I ordered the parts. Was worried before I started about this project but pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick it was. Washer works like a charm now.

Washer made a loud banging noise at end of spin cycle, leaked water and agitator seemed loose
After entering the model number of your appliance you will be taken to a page where all of the parts are displayed by sections. On that page about in the middle there is a heading called "Find Part By Symptom." I figured out from there which symptom the washer had and read what other people were saying and how they made the repairs. Basically I had three problem areas, Noise, Leaking and a problem with the agitator. I focused on the loud noise first and decided I needed to replace the clutch/brake assemblies. I found the clutch parts page and on that page there was a video on how to make this repair. This video is all you need to gain access to all moving parts located under the cabinet. Which ever part you are replacing, I recommend watching this video! After removing the console, back panel and cabinet then laying the machine on its back just as seen on the video, I had access to the water pump, motor, transmission and related clutch/brake parts. As it turned out I did not need the clutch/brake assembly but as a precaution and because the parts were cheap, I replaced the motor coupling, water pump and tub wear pads. I decided to replace the agitator assembly because of several worn parts associated with the dog ears/drive shaft ETC. I put the machine back upright and took off the top cap on the agitator, then there is an inner cap with seal that gives access to the 7/16" bolt you must remove to remove the agitator. However once the agitator was removed I noticed metal shavings and play in the shaft. I used a spanner wrench to remove the spanner nut. I removed the Plastic Tub Ring (has several clips around the outer tub), then removed the inner washer tub to replace the Drive Block. Replacing the Drive Block stopped the loud noise at the end of the spin cycle. Now just reverse the order to put the machine back together and your done. For my situation it was best to take the machine apart and decide which parts I needed before ordering to minimize errors. These machines are made very cheaply and are designed to brake at some point in time and it is very easy to determine which parts are worn because most are made of plastic. In this process I also noticed where my leaks (did I say Leaks) were coming from. There were two hose clamps installed improperly from the factory, so check all clamps, hoses ETC. and you should be good to go.

Top part of agitator (auger) was not turning
Using kit 285587 was straight forward. Removed fabric softener dispenser & sealing cap. It took more time to find the socket set (needed a 7/16 socket) with a long driver (10 inch) than to unscrew & remove the auger & agitator.
Cleaned up the bowl whilst it was apart (good buildup of junk under the agitator). Replaced agitator, new thrust washer to find that grease should be applied but isn't included in kit (get part not 350849). Grrr.... Applied new auger, cam, dogs and holder. (No instructions in kit for assembling cam, dogs & holder, but you can work it out ok). Applied new bolt & washer, new seal on cap. Installed fabric softener. Could have been a 15 minute job but peace and quiet in the garage makes it worthy of taking longer ;-)

cam dogs worn out and the agitator wouldn't rotate.
Removed softner dispenser on top of agitator. Removed next was cap and seal cover at base of the agitator by just pulling it up. Used 1/4" drive w/ 7/16" socket w/long extension to remove the agitator mounting bolt. While holding the bottom of the auger, pull the agitator up, removing the top agitator assembly. Replace the necessary worn parts. Read the directions which came with your ordered parts. Also, the agitator grease which you are to use to lube the top of the Thrust washer is not included in the repair kit. You can use non water soluable grease to lube the thrust washer or order part number 350849. Total time, 15 minutes. Happy washing...

agitator top not working
Repair was very easy for me and I have three fingers missing on one of my hands. Video on repair was also very detailed. I ordered three extra parts that were already included in the agitator kit. Would have been nice if all parts were listed that came in the kit and add a small tube of the grease. Delivery time was great! I would order from this company again, I was very pleased. I have already referred a friend to the site for her repairs.

Upper agitator not working
Read the directions in the repair kit first- a 7/16" socket and 10" extension is needed. Assembled new dogs on agitator "cup" and retainer, added marine(waterproof) grease to assembly washer, replaced bolt anyway and installed new o ring. Took less than 15 minutes-READ ALL DIRECTIONS FIRST!

Agitator wasn't working
I'm really impressed with this website. I was able to quickly diagnose the problem with my machine. I watched the video and thought that this was something that I might be able to do myself. I'm a woman and I like to understand how things work and do my own repairs when I can. My machine is over 16 years old, so I had to scrape some waxy-like buildup from the inner cap before I could remove it. Other than that, I followed the instructional video, which was excellent. I found that I did not need the inner cap seal that I had ordered because a new one was included in the agitator repair kit.

Would not agitate on the top portion of agitator
Removed the softner dispenser and lifted up the plastic piece under that. Used a 9/16th socket with a long extension and unscrewed the center bolt.
Lifted the entire agitator parts off and out.
Next had to get husband to separate the top from the bottom, it was really hard for me. I am a woman but not weak!!
Replace the washer and the other 2 parts, and put it back together and it all took about 15 to 20 minutes.
Easy repair, even for a woman!!!

What is the size and measurement of the 7/16 bolt that connects the agitator
For model number cabrio
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your question. If this is the bolt that you are referring to, the size of the bolt is in the title for the part: 5/16-24 x 1. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Doi need to buy an additional washer (#20) or does the gasket on the screw (#4) serve as the washer? The screw is $4 and the washer by itself is $5. Weird.
For model number 1DNET3205TQ0
Hi David,
Thank you for your question. If you purchase number 4 in the diagram, you will get both the screw and the washer. You do not have to purchase the washer separately. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I would like your suggestion. The head of the hex head bolt is stripped. How can i remove the old one this is the part number partselect number ps11741866
Manufacturer part number wp358237 thanks rick gates
For model number PartSelect Number PS11741866
Hello Rick, Thank you for your inquiry. I would try a pair of pliers first. The other suggestion would be to use a rotary tool to cut a slit in the head of the screw and see if you can remove it with a flat head screwdriver. Hope this helps!

All seems to work well but laundry comes out not clean - as if there is an issue with some residue on parts or something clogged and not allowing the machine to fulfill its mission... maybe someone has some ideas where to start? thanks!!!
For model number Admiral Capacity Plus Model # LNC6760B71
Hi Matias,
Thank you for your question. If you are finding residue on your clothes, there are a number factors that may be to blame. This could be the result of pocket lint, undissolved laundry detergent, too much detergent being used, a dirty washer, overloading the wash cycle, unsorted clothes, hard water and a clogged or faulty water pump. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Stop spinning?
For model number gjxrp080b0ww
Hi James, thank you for your question. There are a number of parts that could cause this issue, however you may want to first check your belt and the agitator coupling for the normal wear and tear that happens. This is that part number for the belt: PS270803 and part number for the coupling: PS1517844. Good luck with your repair.

I have an old Kenmore elite 3 speed automatic washer, with agitator, sn#cm1716414, type 111 large tub washer. Not sure how old it is. It stopped spinning the water from the drum, and when i turn the dial to another spin cycle it makes a humming or "stuck" noise (not loud at all). Are parts still available for this machine.?
