Igniter Kit 279311

Repair was very easy. We are in the internet age so I use it all the time to get info on how to repair any thing in the house including cars. This time it was my dryer. I typed up 'Kitchen Aid dryer has not heat'and pressed searched and PartSelect came up. Typed in the model number and looked up the comments on No Heat. They had pretty cool site that shows videos on how to repair this things too. Came to conlclusion that the THERMAL FUSE was the main problem. Ordered it and as well as the Igniter assy just to make sure and as well as save on the shipping just in case. Ordered on Sunday night and the shipped the next day. It arrived on Tuesday. Unfortunately had a little problem on the shipment. Called PartSelect and they are so awesome they shipped me new parts asap at no extra charge. Awesome Awesome! Parts came in Thursday and first installed the Thermal Fuse and BAAAM! problem solved. Did not need the igniter assembly. Now I have an extra part in storage.
To replace the Thermal fuse.
1. Disconnect Dryer from power outlet. Remove the bolts on the back panel with a 1/4" socket. I used power drill because it is much faster.
2. Locate the Thermal Fuse. Disconnect wires and remove the bolt. Slide it up and pull. Install the new one and reconnect the wires. Replace the panel and plug the dryer.

That solved my problem. It should solve yours too. The whole process was less than five minutes.

First I took the front of the dryer off then located the igniter. It only required removing two screws, removing old igniter, replacing with new igniter, and replacing the two screws.. While I was replacing the igniter I took the drum out and throughly cleaned the inside. Lucky me, I found 85 cents on the floor of the dryer. I am 65yrs old, married and mother of two.
This was easy to do and sure saved money. I reccommend others try to do repairs for themselves and using PartSelect was less expensive too.

Symptoms: No heat from clothes dryer. It would run continuously, and the dryer burner would not light. A little reading and I found out the timer doesn't start until heat is detected. That's why it will run forever without heat.
Ordered a Thermal Fuse, Cycling Thermostat, and Igniter Kit. Turns out it was the thermal fuse. Confirmed with my multimeter continuity check. No idea why it went, it was only 13 years old. No clogs in dyer vent but cleaned it to be sure. Possibly the thermostat was going a bit high over time, so I replaced it too. Only need to remove the back panel to replace these. Dryer works great now. 1 week later the washer broke, so I'll be ordering more parts.

Unplug the dryer first. The igniter was located behind the front panel. On My gas dryer I had to remove 2 screws locacted by the lint screen to lift the top up then 2 screws were removed to lift and remove front panel. Note carefully disconect safety switch wire connecter first. After that there is 1 wire connecter and 2 screws to remove and replace ignitor. Note My ignitor was not bad just old. The thermal fuse on this model requires a little work to replace it. The back panel has to be removed. At least 9 screws hold it on and the vent hose is attached inside of the panel with a hose clamp. Once all that is clear all that remains is to unplug wires and remove 1 screw to replace thermal fuse. Note fuse failed because of lint droping from lint screen to the fan then geting stuck on the fuse screw to overheat and burn out fuse. I vacumed out all lint and dust front to back and also removed the fan cover to clean fan out There was alot of lint packed behind the cover. Then carefully assemble the fan cover - vent tube and back cover. Note this dryer has run for 16 years with no cleaning at all other than lint screen after drying clothes and no other problems so far.

It was very simple, I followed the instructions from your video. It also gave me the opportunity to vac out the unit which had not been done for some time. I plan on changing the igniter at a future date, making things new in that area. To be able to do it myself saved me a lot of money.

the problem was not the igniter its was the thermal fuse I broke the igniter during inspection of the problem be careful its a very easy thing to break repairs complete thank you parts select for the quick shipping and low prices

Our dryer would not heat and it seemed that no gas was coming from the regulator. The igniter was working fine but the burner never turned on. To check the problem, i followed the instructions to remove all body panels until I had access to the burner assembly. I dismantled both gas valve coils and tested each one for open or closed circuit using my multi-tester. I found that the three terminal gas valve coil was an open circuit and was not functioning so I ordered a new one from PartSelect and within just a couple days, had the drier back up and functioning. I also replaced the igniter due to a malfunctioning igniter that has been changed by the manufacture. I must say that PartSelect has the fastest shipping I have ever seen. I ended up taking the entire dryer apart when I didn't need to, and it turns out it wasn't the Igniter Kit in the first place but the thermal fuse in the back. Was pretty simple to repair in any case however.

Initially we thought the problem was the igniter, so we ordered an igniter kit. Installed it but was unsuccessful. We then went on the websight and read further, about 50% of dryers with no heat but working had a problem with the thermal fuse.So we ordered the thermal fuse installed it, which was very easy, and success. Once the problem was diagnosed properly it was fast and easy. Recommend looking at the statistics for specific problem.
