Fixed the problem perfectly
Received this part because the freezer kept getting way to warm, took a long while to defrost and change out but ever since it has worked perfectly. Easy to follow the video instructions and get this done. Appreciate the website helping me find out what was wrong and solve it instead of paying someone to do it!

Works Very Well - Please read my "Entire Review" if your fridge or freezer is too warm.
The Defrost Thermostat is the third part I purchased from PartSelect to fix my refrigerator/Freezer. The error we were consistently getting was that the refrigerator was too warm (High Temp Error Code). We have a Frigidaire Professional French Door Style Fridge Model #(FGHF2369MF7).with automatic ice in the door. Based on the information on the website we were under the assumption that the evaporator fan needed to be replaced. Before you replace any parts when you have this error examine carefully your freezer door seal. After replacing the evaporator fan everything worked fine for a week or two. We then started to notice that the fridge temperature was rising again. We then examined the freezer door seal and we noticed that it was not making contact and it seem to have lost its magnetic properties. The freezer door seal was the second part that we replaced. Based on the amount for ice buildup in the back of the freezer the temperature was rising again. It would seem there was a lot of warm moist air getting in because there wasn't a proper seal between the freezer seal and the freezer compartment itself. Even tough we replaced the evaporator fan and the freezer door seal we noticed ice starting to build up again. I read on the part select website that the next thing that we were likely to replace would be the Derfost Thermostat. When I removed it from the freezer it was actually broken in half and was in two separate pieces. I would like to submit a photo but I'm not sure how. I conclude that when the freezer seal was no longer effective the defrost thermostat got damaged due to ice build up. I don't believe this was the original problem although didn't need to be replaced. . The first thing they tell you to do when you have any of these problems is to completely thaw the refrigerator and freezer old-school like the defrost in a very old fridge. Unplug the machine and completely allow it to thaw out. Take the time to inspect the various parts and I suggest starting with the freezer seal. If I replace this originally after defrosting them the refrigerator and freezer old-school like the defrost in a very old fridge. Unplug the machine and completely allow it to thaw out. Take the time to inspect the various parts and I suggest starting with the freezer seal. If I had replaced the seal originally after defrosting the entire fridge and freezer compartment I'm sure it would've solve the problem. I believe that the ice buildup is what ultimately caused the defrost thermostat to fail. I do not believe that I needed a new evaporator fan at all but that was the original part that we replaced. It's been about three weeks now since I replaced the defrost thermostat and the temperature is holding steady at -15°C for the freezer and +3°C for the refrigerator. It was certainly much cheaper to go this route even though it cost us about $400 Canadian all said and done it's much cheaper than paying another $3500 for a fridge that's only a few years old. They sure don't make them like they used to.freezer and +3°C for the refrigerator. We have a Maytag refrigerator and freezer downstairs in the basement that we got with our original house back in 1985. Hasn't given us a lick of problems. Works like a charm. If you have no experience, just order the parts, watch the videos, follow the video step by step.

Freezer compartment is getting ice build up back corner below ice maker & on backwall
For model number fgun2642lf2
Hello Mike, thank you for your question. The most likely issue is with the thermostat or the heater itself. More often the thermostat needs to be replaced. Test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter. Also check the motor to be sure its turning and blowing cold air into the fridge from the freezer. I hope this helps!

My refrigerator has been running at a high temperature. With the freezer running normal, by replacing the defrost thermostat will I fix the issue. Large amounts of frost has accumulated in the evaporator coils and I noticed that the attached defrost thermostat has the cap removed. Your thoughts.
For model number FGHN2866PF1
Hello Carl, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. We hope this helps!

Been Manually defrosting my freezer every few weeks when the temp starts to rise. I replaced the thermostat as recommended in the others. This time I checked it and it read closed when I pulled it (frozen). It measured open after it warmed up, so I put it back in. What do I check next?

How do i get to the thermostat
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you for your question. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to install the defrost thermostat. The refrigerator and the defrost thermostat in the video may not show exactly like the one you have, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. You will find the video under part number PS469510. Here is a link to the video, https://www.partselect.com/PS469510-Frigidaire-5303918202-Defrost-Thermostat.htm?SourceCode=15. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
