The lid was closed to hard causing the door strike, lid lock bezel and assembly to break.
Changing the door strike was simple just a quarter turn and it pops off. Changing the assembly, remove the screws from the back side at the top, move to facing the front of the machine pull the top toward you about a half inch and it will open. From the back unplug the correct wire, remove assembly and then install in reverse. Good luck.

Plastic clip broke that tells the washer the lid is closed. Can it be joined back together or will we need a new clip?

Washer lid does not close to let washer start
How do you remove part to see if it is broken

Hi Mark, thank you for contacting us. A faulty lid lock assembly, part number PS12731130, might cause the door to not close properly. To check this part, we would suggest following these general instructions: Move the washer away from the wall, and remove the screws holding the control panel assembly using a quarter-inch nut driver. Insert a putty knife under the front corners of the control panel housing to release the clips securing the housing. Disconnect the user interface wire connector and set the control panel assembly aside. Unthread the rear screws securing the main top as well as the screws securing the access panel. Next, pull the main top forward, then partially lift it and detach the lid lock bezel. You may use a small flathead screwdriver to depress the retaining tab. Slide the lid lock to the left to release it from the main top. The lid lock assembly can be checked for any fault or damage. We would also suggest checking the door strike, part number PS16218028, and making sure it is not damaged or broken. This may also make the door not close properly. We hope this information helps!
My washer says lid is lock and will not function and the lid will not latch at all. My ? is if I replace the lid lock latch assembly will this fix my issue
