Part was correct and easy to replace. however that wasnt the true issue. when i tried the dryer the result was the same. That is when I noticed that when i removed the knob the flat spot didnt line up with the timer shaft. I tried it again and it was then that i noticed two very fine cracks on the knob right at the flat spot. when I used pliers to turn the controller the dryer started. I glued the plastic knob and re-inforced with some windings of copper wire and all is working.
