old seal was shot
New seal arrived basically folded in half for shipping. Was advised to use hair dryer and/or hot water to restore original shape. Neither worked. I installed it anyway and am waiting (3 days so far) for it to seal (so far, no luck). I'll give it another day or 2, re-install the old one and write off the $75

Having patience and plenty of time
The refrigerator never gave me any trouble. It's at least 25 years old. It runs like new now. The gasket can be softened, gently using a hairdryer. The key is to attach the gasket to the refrigerator and use a hairdryer, going back and forth the length of the gasket. Then, to stop using the hairdryer and with the hands pull (gently) on the gasket, the length of the gasket straightening and making the gasket wider so it attaches to the refrigerator as it cools. Then look for gaps and places where air is escaping and repeat, until a good seal is achieved. This is so much better than buying new, and in 10 years buying new again with planned obsolescence.

fridge door switch did not work
I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!

Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

Missing crisper drawer support post
I recently bought an old Amana refrigerator for my garage on CraigsList for 75 bucks. It was in great condition for its age, but was missing the post that supports the fruit and veggie crisper drawers. I did a Google search, quickly found PartSelect, and just as quickly located and ordered the missing part, which was reasonably priced. PartSelect promised it woud be delivered in 3-5 days by FedEx Ground and it was. I took it out of the box, removed the crisper backets - and glass cover for them - installed the post and WHA-LA, the crisper backets work just as good as when the fridge was new! Couldn't have had an on-line mal-order operation go any slicker!

Old handle had cracked at the top
Removed a small cover plug on the lower portion of the handle, removed three screws. Took off old handle, positioned the new one, replaced the screws and cover plug and that was it! Wouldn't have taken even 15 minutes if I hadn't dropped a screw and had to search for it - lol.

Magnetic door seals falling apart
First, I removed everything from the door shelves. Next, I loosened the screws around the door, under the seals, pulled the seals out and slid the new ones into place. It couldn't have been easier. There is no need to remove the door liner. It's like having a new refrigerator.

I was surprised, when my parts arrived 3 days after I ordered them. The cost was less than half, compared to our local parts house.
