MHWE950WR02 Maytag Washer - Instructions

Pull spring wire on front. Remove large hose lamp at tub. Reinstall in reverse order.

2 clamps and its off, problem is if you have average size hands you will struggle in getting the back clamp on and off.

I did all the tests for a control failure but did not open the cabinet until I received the new part. The tests indicated that the problem was a failed control.
As I opened the cabinet to replace the control I discovered that the actual problem was just a broken power button linkage which is part of the front console(no longer available). The original control worked fine when the switch on the control circuit board was pressed with a probe.
I re-assembled the washer and made a "key" from a toothbrush shaft to replace the broken button.

It was fast and pretty easy to do.

replaced actuator switch. It did not fix the problem. Replaced actuator arm, and fixed. Needed the switch because gears were stripped. Needed the arm because it seems over time, the arm straightened, thereby increasing its length so that the rotation of the switch bound up during its cycle.

New baffles would not fit. PartSelect very helpful to get refund.

New baffles should just slide in but did not. Measuring slots and
connection points on new baffles appear to be a difference preventing
connection.

I followed the directions as given in a video from this site, and it was pretty simple. It can be done without power tools, although I used screw driver heads on a drill. The only iffy part was that some of the star-shaped screw heads were shallow and I had to be careful not to strip them. In brief, the fix required removing the door from the machine, unscrewing the inside of the door from the outside, removing the broken hinge, inserting the new hinge, re-aligning the inside and outside of door, screwing it back together, and re-attaching to the machine.

I am a 63 yr old woman. I was able to remove the washer door, take off the broken hinge, install the new hinge, and place it back on the front of the washer in less than 15 minutes! It is a front load washer and designed for one person to do this. I YouTubed a less that 2-minute video first. The hinge fit perfectly!

REMOVE HOSES AND POWER PLUG REATTACH EVERYTHING AND THEN DONE.

Shut off the hot water supply (pretty sharp eh?). Disconnected the hose from the hw supply and the at the connection to the washing machine. These had not been touched in at least 15 years and were somewhat tough to loosen but finally came ..... accessibility was a problem for the connection to the water supply as it was in a recessed wall box. Fortunately, we had some washers for the hose connections so the install was a snap. Hardest part of the whole job was moving the washing machine out from between the drier and the wash tub .... tight fit. Thanks for the quick service and to FED EX for their delivery. The delivery fellow was a real gentleman.

Turn water off at the inlet valve of hose you are replacing. Disconnect inlet hose the washer and let water drain out in a bucket. Then remove old hose. Replace new hose to inlet valve then washer . Use pliers to tighten both ends. Turn on water to check leaks at both ends of hose.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discoloring refer handles. Thank you
