GI15NDXTS1 Whirlpool Ice Maker - Instructions

Disconnected power cord, removed rear cover of refrigerator, disconnected pig tail, removed 4 housing screws, took three mount screws out and removed old fan. Reversed steps, plugged in and complete repair done.

Removed old assembly by disconnecting 2 wiring harness connections and loosening 2 screws with nutdriver. Installed new assembly using same process. Had ice in about an hour. Very easy.

Removed lower plate on back of refridgerator and changed out fan. The video was great and made the repair a snap. Fan is quiet and no more overheating refridgerator.

I called the 800 number and the lady was great to work with and helped me thru all the order process and confirmed the numbers. She also told me she would try to get the order out that day which she did and I had the part two days later. When it arrived I went to the web site and reviewed the video and went to work and all went as the video said. Thanks for the help and if i need another part I will visit your site or call.

I watched the film on installing and taking out. Step by step. easy.

Unplugged the refrigerator then removed two vertical screws on the very back back of the control panel (the ones with the washers). Do not remove the four other vertical screws in the panel. The front plastic plate on control panel snaps off and there are two horizontal screws under the plate. Remove them and the control panel will drop down allowing access to the light switch. Unplug the two wires (one black and one white) from the old switch. Discard the old switch, snap the new one into place and reconnect the two wires. Snap the front plastic plate back into place, plug in the refrigerator and you are done! Problem solved with a new $16.00 switch and saved at least $75.00 or more from an appliance repair call. Repair was so simple, I didn't even need instructions. Removed old fan with motor, installed new one, installed harness that converted plugs, done. Saved hundreds of dollars doing the repair myself.

Before I began I unplugged the electrical at the wall outlet. 1. Unscrewed the 4 mounting screws. 2. disconnected electrical at the motor. 3. removed the assembly. 4. mounted the new motor on the assembly as described in the instructions. Installed the assembly and reconnected the electrical. Works great, easy job!

A bit of a tight squeeze for my hands, but very basic as I followed the instructions and watched the installation video. I only had the fridge unplugged for about 20 min..The fridge is as quiet, as it was brand new. The only tool I needed was the 1/4 inch socket wrench. A portable lantern was very helpful as well. Runs very quiet now, like new! Thx!!!

Pretty much followed the how to video. Biggest pain was removing the screws to the bracket that houses the motor.

Fast after a little help from a friend

Watched the video that was attached to my order confirmation (great idea) and just followed it step by step. Real easy repair since I had tried to fix the noise first without ordering parts, so I knew what I was doing Did a temporary fix which quieted it down while I waited for the parts and then the repair itself was pretty straight forward.

Remove back panel on unit locate condenser fan and motor remove three small screws holding motor assembly to metal bracket disconnect electrical connection press new fan blade on new motor reverse directions

I removed the two screws that hold the shield in front of the grid and put them aside allowing access to the grid. I then removed the two screws that hold the grid in place. I unplugged the connector and then pulled it out. I reversed the process to reassemble and powered up the unit. I now have ice again. This whole process probably took me 15-20 minutes to do the install.

UPS delivered the part at 11:05 AM and I had it installed in less than 30 minutes. No issues, easy removal and re-installation although the compartment was very tight for my hand and a 1/4" drive socket wrench. One installation suggestion however, pre-thread the 3 mounting screw holes on the motor housing first by screwing one of the screws provided into each of the three mounting holes on the motor housing prior to attempting to install the new motor. This way you'll find it much easier to get start the screws given the very limited work-space behind the fan compartment.
