EF42NBSS Dacor Refrigerator - Instructions

Eased the putty knife under the edge of the switch housing and pried it off. Pulled two wires off the old terminals and hooked them onto the new one and reinstalled into the refrigerator body.

Remove the ice maker with two screws in the side and one screw in the bottom. You don't have to completely remove the side screws but you do have to remove the bottom screw.
Lift up on the ice maker and reach behind it and unplug the wiring harness. The tube that lets the water in is accessible from the rear of the fridge. Remone the water line, its only finger tight, and remove the two screws. Pull the tube up and out. Thaw it out with hot water and reinstall. With the ice maker out and on the table, pop off the front cover. Remove two phillips head screws and slide the cube tray off. watch how everything is placed before you slide it off. Slide on the new tray and reinstall all screws. Reassemble in reverse order that you took it out. Your ready to make ice...

Tough part was diagnosing the problem: bad water inlet solenoid, frozen inlet line, bad ice maker motor, or door opening sensor? Went to a parts shop & discussed the problem with the serviceman. He said you just need to sequentially replace each part. No way say I, that could cost $300 with a no-part return option.

I decided to replace the motor...Eureka!! It worked.
The underside of the ice maker cartridge has a plastic snap clip on either side of the cartridge. You need push each up, pull the left side of the cartridge out part way & disconnect the electrical connector on the right side(left..you facing the refrig.) With the cartridge out simply remove the 5 screws from the motor plate of the left side & replace with the new one.
Very simple. Slide the cartridge back in the frig. until the 2 snap clips click. Voila...you done! Cost $86..not $300. Apparently the motor is too weak to do the job & burns out quickly. Manufacturer should correct this defect.

Unscrewed oldfilter and installed new. Very easy repair

All of 16 seconds. It took longer to get it out of the box than to change it. Untwist the old one, pull it out and replace the new one.

i first removed the ice maker and took the motor assembley off. Right away i saw the problem. The wheel which drives the arm broke.
Once i get the new motor modl i just replaced it (it just pops into place with 1 or 2 screws).
put ice maker back in freezer and wola. Starting cranking out ice within 15 minutes.

Removal of the Ice Maker required the removal of only one screw from underneath the maker and the power connector disconnect. Dis-assembly was straight forward. Remove old tray and heater, and reassemble with new tray and heater unit. Reinstall Ice Maker! Special Note: Allow the Ice Maker time to cycle through it's sequences. It may take a period of time before it starts producing ice after re-installation.

The first thing I would like to say is thank you Parts select for a very fast delivery. It was within 24 hours I received my component. The installation went very well. The main thing is to take each part off the old mold, one at a time and install it onto the new mold. Make sure to look at each part as it is mounted to the old mold and re install them the exact same way. Just be gentle with some of the plastic pieces because they are fragile in certain areas. A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.

I removed the ice maker, saw the problem, took the ice maker apart and ordered a new mold. I reassembled it with the new mold and it now makes ice but the control arm remains up after each ice dump. I plan to take the ice maker back out when we leave (we are snow birds in Florida) and see if the arm is properly placed.

I noticed that the refrigerator was having trouble maintaining temperature. Thought it might be time for new one until I found out that a new frig was $5k to $7K. Just happened to notice that the light switch didn't look quite right (was not sitting sqaure to the door). Once I pressed it it came loose. I then realized the the lights were staying on (50 watts of heating). Replaced the switch and the frig started working like new.

As shown in your video, very easy, no tools required.
