My microwave was sparking. A technician looked at the oven and told me i needed to replace the rotating ring because the wheels were worn and they had some type of metal in them. Is this True?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, there are metal inside of those wheels, so if they have worn down that would cause sparking inside of your appliance while it is turning. You should actually be able to see the wear. We have pictures of this part, the middle picture is a close up on the wheels. Compare yours to the one we have on our site, if you would like to determine it yourself as well. Good luck with your repair!

Vertical rod that the turntable fits on has broken, so turntable does not rotate when appliance is in operation. Is repairing this within the homeowner's capabilities?
