Ordered 4x same part and ALL defective
I ordered this part 4x and each one was defective - I still have 3 in sealed bags. The part has 2 vertical plastic pins that were either missing or defective. Part 1: 1 pin intact and other pin partly broken - I used this with some glue; Part 2: still in bag with NO pins; Parts 3 & 4: still in bag and only 1 pin on each. Happy to email a pic of 3 sealed bags with defective parts

I have a KitchenAid built in microwave kbms1454sss 0; which looks identical to current model kmbs104ess. Over the years the covr inlet (microwave waveguide cover) which is located in the top inside has had a hole develop in it the plastic melting away the hole is now over 1 inch in size. The microwave still work fine been using it for years.. 1) can what has caused this hole to develop 2) can this be fixed 3) what parts need to be replaced and are compatible to this model. appreciate any help you can provide this has been a great microwave and hate to spend $1200 to replace it... thanks steve

Hello Steve, Thank you for your inquiry. Part number W11087199 would be the part that is compatible to your model. The hold can be caused by moisture or food getting into that area, or that the magnetron may be failing. You can test the magnetron with a multimeter to see if it has continuity-for safety reasons, make sure you discharge your capacitor first. Hope this helps!

Making sure this is the correct part. In the center of the interior roof of the microwave, there is a plastic part that has a hole melted open in the center. We bought the house and it came like this from the previous owner. Is this the correct part to replace that? Also, it looks like it just pops off with no screws, is this correct?

This microwave was installed in the house we purchased. About four years ago, i replaced the waveguide cover as a hole was melted into the cover. Now, the replacement is also creating a melted hole. Is this something that i, the consumer is not doing or is doing to cause this part to melt?

Hi Jonathan, this seems like a common problem, sadly I could not find any preventative measures. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

For model number Kbms 1454 sss
Hi Rafael, thank you for contacting us. The microwave oven can cause sparking due to damage in the waveguide cover, part number PS12070624. This waveguide cover protects the waveguide channel from debris and food splatters. You need to replace this part to fix the issue. We hope this information is useful!

How do you remove the existing wave guide cover on my built in KitchenAid microwave?
For model number KBMS1454RSS0
Hi Joe,
Thank you for your inquiry. Replacing a microwave oven wave guide cover is a relatively simple task. That said, the process does vary from model to model. Here are the two most common ways to remove a microwave wave guide cover:
Many wave guide covers are held in place with either a single screw or several screws. Remove the screw(s), and then slip the cover out of its housing.
Other models require that you remove the entire outer cabinet of the microwave before you can remove the wave guide cover. In these models, the wave guide cover is most often secured to the internal right hand wall. With the outer cabinet removed, examine the right side of the unit. You should see where the wave guide cover secures in place. You will likely need to push down on the top of cover's clips to release it. Then reach inside the microwave and pull the cover out of the bottom slots.
Refer to your microwave owner's manual if neither of these processes apply to you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

What would cause the glass plate to break and shatter and the plastic inlet cover to melt a hole in the middle of it while popping a bag of popcorn on the popcorn setting. I don’t want to order replacement parts until i know if i may have a safety issue and need to replace the microwave.
For model number KBMS1454RSS-0
Hi Teresa,
Thank you for your question. The glass trays for for most microwaves are made out of tempered glass. In some cases, stress points may occur in the glass as a result of extreme heat from the bag of popcorn caused by continuous cooking of it or if the popcorn is stale and does not pop. This can cause the glass to break. For some brands of popcorn, it is recommended to place the bag of popcorn on a microwaveable plate before placing it in the microwave. For more information you will need to consult the instructions on the bag of popcorn before heating it in the microwave. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
