The washer was making a horrible noise during the spin cycle
Removed a cap in the center of the tub basket which has a bolt that needs removed I believe it's a 9/16 after I removed the bolt I then removed the center of the bottom of the basket assembly which then allowed me to get to the basket hub that needed replaced it was a little dirty and I couldn't get it out so I sprayed a little penitrating oil on it let it sit a little then I was able to remove the hub and install the new one then I put it all back together and the washer is working great

Error reading 5D - wouldn't spin
3rd time replacing this part. The plastic grooves against the metal get wore down. Only 20$ to repair ! Take off the 3/8 bolt - center pops out. Remove screws pop out old piece and tighten new piece each side evenly.

Washer would vibrate and bang viciously in the spin cycles
Remove agitator and replace hub. I also recommend replacing the Suspension too. I could tell the hub was bad the piece of metal washer on the bottom was gone. The suspension lost a lot of its stiffing

First replaced four basket spring supports. Next tried Basket hub assembly ( which showed wear, but not total solution). Next replaced the rotation sensor that's on the stator. That finalized the issue.

Whirlpool cabrio would not go into the spin function without triggering an error code of 5d
Removed the center cover of the agitator with a flathead. Removed the nut of the agitator main cover. Had trouble taking the cover off because of the crud holding it down I wiggled it up gently alternating n,s and e,w until I eventually saw it separating from the bottom of the basket. Once it came off you could see how nasty the old hub assembly looked. Took the screws off the old hub assembly and removed it. Matched it up with the correct new hub assembly cause the kit comes with 2. Cleaned the shaft and that general area. Installed the new hub assembly, replaced the covers. Ran the drain and spin cycle and it worked with no problem. There are videos on YouTube that show you too. DO NOT try to pry the agitator cover if it won’t rise up easily. Be patient and it will come out.

Loud banging during wash cycle
This is an easy one. Snap off the agitator cap with a screwdriver. Remove the single but and agitator. Remove 6 phillips head screws. Lubricate the bearing and coax it off the spindle.

Replace drive shaft, bearings and seal.
It is good to watch a video on how to! Most went well, like all repairs, there are surprises, that make It take longer than expected. Once I put it back together and ran it, there was a UL code. After reading more posts, I found UL is unbalanced. After reading more… one of the problems could be the hub on the bottom may be loose. I checked that. Yep the hex bolt was loose. I forgot to put lock tight on it. Fixed that and ran it, worked flawlessly. It would be nice to have install instructions in the box. Otherwise watch videos.

The agitator was making grinding noises
Removed the softener dispenser and cap that's under it. Used 7/17" socket with an 18" long extension to reach the bolt that holds agitator down. Pulled auger off, pulled lower agitator off. Removed the 6 philips head screws that hold basket hub in place. Removed hub and installed new one, replaced screws. Lightly greased spline and reinstalled lower agitator. The auger has the cam section in it. A trick to get the rollers in place is to secure them to the cam with rubber band. Have string tied to the band. Insert the cam and when almose all the way in, pull rubber band off and the rollers stay in place. Reinstalled the bolt, cap and softener dispenser.

I think i need to repair the basket hub, the machine is making alot of noise when agitating, is there a video on this? I dont think i need to take the machine housing of i think i can get it from the top. Does cap just pop off. And is it normal for the inner basket to move up and down about a half inch

Hello Randy, Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, we do not have a video for this part, To replace the basket hubs, remove the cover from the agitator cap with a flat blade screwdriver. Pull the cover inside the agitator off, then take the agitator bolt off, use a 7/16 inch socket with a long extension and hold the tub so it does not turn. Take the agitator off, then reach in and lift out the lower part of the agitator out. Now you can access the basket hub. You may want to put towels down to cover the drain holes to make sure that the screws don't fall down the holes. Use a philips screwdriver to remove the screws, hold the tub again to keep it from spinning and be careful not to strip the screws as you are taking them out. Pull the hub out, it should come out in two pieces-a larger driven hub and a smaller white drive hub that has the gear teeth on top, pull both out. Since the kit comes with two types of driven hubs, compare the old one with the ones in the kit to see which one you should use. Put the smaller white driver hub in first, then the larger driven hub in, lining up the screw holes. Replace the screws, then the lower and upper parts of the agitator. Tighten down the agitator bolt, then replace the cover and cap. Hope this helps!

You will want to check both the Stator part PS11754517 and the Rotor part PS993018 for your model as the cause of the grease. We hope this helps.

Replaced suspension rods but during spin cycle, it still shakes violently and shuts down. Even when empty(cleaning). Seems like something out of round after lengthy observation. Not sure if this is a direct drive or belt driven. At wits end!!!

I have this Maytag bravos xl washing machine and it is very noisy at the end of wash cycles especially in the spin cycle.Also the ul un level code pops up at times.It seems very rough turning in spin cycle and very noisy.I have been looking into problems on it on other sites but your is the most helpful and i have been reading other questions and for this problem itmany problems come back.I am seeing the basket hub kit,bearing and seal kit,suspension rods, all of those seem to be coming up alot. Would your possibly be able to shed some light for this model washer about what your think main problems might be and parts needed to fix it. Hello Justin, thank you for your question. It sounds like an issue with the sensor PartSelect Number PS11749664 and basket hub kit PartSelect Number: PS11723155. The sensor helps to ensure the load of clothing stays balanced during the wash cycle, that part failing could cause the un level code to happen. The noise at the end of the cycle could be caused by the hub kit. I hope this helps!
