Control panel buttons were worn out, circuit board shorted out
Turned off the power at the breaker; took the screws out of the door panel; the control panel was already loose; I took the lock mechanism off the panel, and then removed the electric bundle panel from the control panel; the only thing left was the cicuit board, which I removed, and the wires to it were in a clip all together; I clipped the wires to the new cicuit board, replaced it in the panel slot, then clipped in the wire bundle; the lock mechanism fit right where it was supposed to, then I replaced all the screws in the door panel , starting at the top where the control panel was; I turned the power back on, then turned on the dishwasher- it worked just like new. This was a fairly easy fix for about $150; that would have been the service charge and time alone for a repairman, not including the marked up price of the parts. PartSelect was a lifesaver.

the "normal" button cover cracked allowing water to seep in and damage the switch
Unplug the dishwasher. Remove the screws holding the stainless lining to the outer door panel. Unplug the various connections. remove the control panel by pushing small plastic cleats outward (they are spring loaded). Remove the printed circuit board by pushing one holding tab to realase then tilting the board out. Remove the ribbon cable by sliding it off the circuit board. Now reverse the process. Attach the ribbon cable to new circuit board, snap in the circuit board to the control panel (ribbon behind), reattach all electrical connectors, reassemble the door "sandwich". Somewhere in there you also need to remove then snap back the door lock assembly. This is a simple repair with no fancy connectors or tools. Repair service wanted $400 plus two service calls (one to diagnose, one to install). My total about $120. I am a klutz re: repairs.

Control selection Pad not functioning
1st important: Make sure to turn off electricity from the dishwasher I did this from my circuit breaker to insure safety. Removed the front panel of the dishwasher, disconnected the control panel & the Electronic Control Board. Removed the 2 items. The parts arrived very promptly as promised, connectected the wires & installed. As long as someone is mechanically inclined & savy with electronics shouldn't run into any problems. Dishwasher now working as good as new. Saved significantly, previously priced out repairman & parts would have been more then double the costs incurred & saved $1000.00 if I would have purchased a new dishwasher of equal value.

Control panel worn out. Start button would not always work
So I have never done anything like this before, but I figured the worst I could do was no worse than an nonworking dishwasher, and I did not want to spend $150 and wait a week or two for a repair man...so what heck...First I watched a video on Youtube found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4G0IiHLZhk
Then....
TURN OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TO THE DISHWASHER IN YOUR BREAKER BOX. VERIFY IT IS OFF BY TRYING TO START THE DISHWASHER.
1. I removed all of the perimeter screws on the inside of the door and pulled the decorator panel up and off.
2. I removed the screws that held the latching mechanism.
3. Surprise. What I saw did not look like what was in the video. There was not a nice neat R&R control module with a wire harness to unplug. Instead I was looking at 3 circuit boards.
4. I was to pop up the control panel on my left. The larger one on the right requires a long screwdriver to lever under the right side, flex the plastic housing until the pins holding the board came free, and then i slid out. The final board came free with pinching the clasp that held it.
5. I left all of these linked together and undid no wires.
6. As a unit I was able to pop all 3 into the proper places on the new panel. It is quite obvious what goes where as it is a perfect copy of the original.
7. Then reattach the latching mechanism.
8. Slide the door front on so that the bottom sides go inside the retaing rails.
9. Reattach all screws.in their proper places.
10. Voila. It worked much to my amazement.

Would not start, lights on panel and switches not functioning.
The unit was not turning on and I was not getting normal switch indicator lights. After consulting the on-line PartsSelect trouble shooting/repair text, I replace these two components:
WP8270168 Control Board (switch panel) -core returned) PS11745530
WP8270168 Control Board (circuit box) -core returned PS11746562
Now I get the full panel of lights for cycles and control.
The “clean” indicator remained lighted (flashing) at the end of the first wash cycle and I cannot clear it by using the book procedure (“cancel” button). Nor does it extinguish after unplugging the dishwasher and, after a wait, plugging it in. It appears that the sensor for the “clean” step is not clearing. I cannot get it to do any wash cycle.
-----------------------------------
I talked to the customer service person at PartsSelect at 8888951555 and, incredibly, she keyed in to my statement that I could not get the circuit to reset when unpowered and read from a script the way to get the circuits to reset (sent the text to me since it was complex). That was the solution except that I still have to figure out how to get the "clean" light to deenergize but I am able to do wash cycles now.

Button on the control panel worn off.
Turned off the circuit breaker. Removed the door screws and lifted the front of the door off (screws were square so I needed a special allen wrench. Removed the door latch screws. Popped off the control panel plastic unit. Removed the three circuit boards...needed a little bending on the plastic holding pins...that's ok since you discard the old panel. Put the 3 circuit boards back in place on the new panel. Positioned the new panel. Replaced the outside wood piece and put the screws back in the door and door latch. Turned the circuit breaker back on. Worked like a champ.

I have stainless steel kitchaid dishwasher. The entire front of the dishwasher is stainless steel. The control panel only shows up along the top of the door. The dishwasher setting light turn on but the start button light does not and the selection light turn off after a minute. Looks like the control board is the problem. The ps11699799 control board comes up as the replacement part but i looks like its meant to fit a door with a black panel showing on the outside of the door. Will this part actually fit under the stainless door covering ?

Hello Matthew, Thank you for the question. Here is a Repair Story from a previous customer that may help. Good luck with the repair!
