WPSQ4160TAWW General Electric Washer - Instructions

I reached under the agitator on two sides with my fingers and with one good upward yank the agitator came loose. I removed the agitator from the inside of the machine, I seen the Agitator Coupling was spinning in both directions so I felt that it may have been broken. I removed the one bolt hold the Agitator Coupling in place, I remove and inspected the Coupling and noticed that the spline was worn out. I cleaned the transmission spine that the Coupling slides over with a wire brush while using a shop vacuum to catch any loose debris. I installed new Agitator Coupling Kit slipped the Agitator back inside the machine over the coupling and pressed it down until it snapped into place. Job done. Machine works great.

Slide rope beneath agitator.
Pull up with good force..agitator will separate from coupling.
Remove screw from coupling.
Slide coupling off.
Slide on new coupling.
Install screw included with the new agitator (Don't use old screw. The new one is a specialty part designed for new coupling)
Slide agitator back down over coupling.
Done

I just put the new knob where the old one was and presto it was done. The whole process was much easier than I expected.

ordered a knob for my dryer. snapped it on. simple.

Before I bought the new knobs, I put nail glue inside each knob to strengthen the knobs. It lasted for about 6 mos and I would have to do it again. Needless to say I got tired of the broken knobs, so I bought new ones.

Just put the new knob on the machine.

The start knob had crack in it that was getting bigger, and we'd begun using pliers to start it. Not only was it unwieldy but I thought it would eventually strip the metal stem. Of course this was a breeze of a repair--we just slid the new knob on. But my husband had been certain that finding a replacement knob--or calling a dealing and ordering the part--would be a big deal. I said: "But let's just try on-line." We quickly found the model # inside the dryer door. We filled in the appliance info, the part popped up. I ordered it. It arrived in 2 days. It's like new.

The knob to start my dryer broke about a year age. I was using pliers to start the dryer. I was sure I would never find a replacement part and it was just a matter of time before the plier trick would break the start knob. I decided to look on line for a replacement knob sure that I wouldn't find one. Clicked on PartSelect, enter General Electric dryer and a bit more simple info and there was the part I needed. Yes, we should have done this a long time ago and put off replacing the starter knob and heat adjuster knob. By the time they no longer worked, we called in an expensive repairman. When we realized what the problem was, we thanked him, paid him lots of money and did what we should have all along - replaced the knobs throug partsselect.com instead of using the repairman for another $150.00.

We received the knobs within 3 days (paying for medium fast delivery was worth it) and simply pulled the old problem knobs off and put the other ones on. Simple, no brainer work.

Save yourself expensive repairs and replace those knobs when they start going. Also, when you test the machine, make sure you turn the setting to a time (stupid mistake that most of us do) to make sure that the knobs work properly.

Unplugged washing machine pulled Agitator strait up removed screw from center of Agitator coupling . Replaced coupling put Agitator back on plugged in and done.

Ordered a new knob and replaced the broken one.

ordered replacement. received in two days and voila! Fixed!
