VBXR1060V1WW Hotpoint Washer - Instructions

I used the video instructions sent to my email and everything worked perfectly as instructed.

Remove agitator remove retainer screw and using Prybar lift off the old coupler ..... After removal use heat gun and wire brush to remove plastic residue from the splines of the motor shaft ... While the shaft is still warm line up the splines from the new coupler and using the mallet force the coupler on the shaft ... Install the retainer screw that comes with the coupler and snap on the agitator ... Done

I replaced the water level pressure switch but that did not fix the problem. I tried to replace the pressure tube with some rubber tubing from the hardware store but that did not fix the problem. I replaced the tubing with the correct pressure tubing for PartSelect and now it seems to be working fine. I think the old tubing had a small leak in it I could not detect and the hardware tubing was not exactly the same as the manufacturer part. Anyway it was still a lot cheaper than a new washer. The washing machine was a making a very loud noise when it got to the end of agitation and though it did complete the cycyle it was beginning to snag clothes under the agitator....don't know how. Found that the agitator coupler was cracked in 4 places. Washer is only a year and a half. 4 family washing..so I wanted this fixed quick. The part came super quick..like two days and I was not expecting it for 4 - 10 days...so great and it was cheaper than other places I checked even with paying shipping! I watched the video of installing the coupler--very helpful! I removed the agitator, then removed the agitator coupler....this was already done before the part arrived. When the new coupler arrived, I just had to drop it down onto the spline...there are grooves it must fit to...then I applied the hold down bolt. I used my wrachet/socket to tighten it, but you can use an adjustable wrench. I'm short so reaching down into the washer bowl to get to tighten the bolt was a little ackward..should have used a stool. The loud sound the washer was making before replacing the part stopped and I am back in business...doing ugly washing....LOL! One thing I will mention....nothing to do with the part...but I had without thinking placed the agitator back into the washer bowl....WITHOUT bolting it down..then put the agitator on top of the old coupler. So this made it lock in place under the agitator. My agitator does not have an opening at the top after removing the dust cap inside so there was no way to knock the coupler down and out from the top by putting a long wrench or something down through the top of the agitator(the video shows how to do this also)...sooo....because the agitator coupler locks in place behind moveable clips, I took eight butter knives and wedged them behind each clip on the underside of the coupler pushing each back and was then was able to separate the agitator coupler from the agitator by pulling it forward with my fingers...so don't test putting the agitator over the coupler without first bolting it down! This is all a lot to say about such a small part but this small part is crucial to being able to complete a wash..an ugly wash that is...haha!

I removed the control panel and front panel of the machine exposing the water level pressure switch and hose. There was a clog in the hose that once cleaned out (with a shish kabab skewer)the problem was solved I didn't even need the switch which I returned and got a full refund no problem.

remove the agitator by just pulling it up, remove the bolt that hold the agitator coupling down and install the new one.

This top loading washer was purchased new in 2006. It has had a good bit of use and was a rather inexpensive model, but had been working fine. Suddenly the agitator stopped working. First I pulled off the agitator inside the machine, which in this model came off in one piece. In order to do that I grabbed it at the very bottom by pushing my fingers underneath the base, then rocked it from side to side while pulling up on it until it popped off. This exposed the agitator gear that had gone bad. I unbolted the gear and pulled it off. This removal took a bit of effort, and again, we had to rock it back and forth while pulling up on it until it finally came loose. When the new part arrived a few days later, we slipped it onto the transmission stem, and bolted it into place. Then the agitator was put back on and snapped into place. Works as good as new for less than $14, including shipping!

The agitator is the tough thing to remove, I took a previous posters advice and used a rope and 2 boards to pull it up. I will describe it as many short ropes but it can be done without cutting the rope if you think a lot about it. loop the a rope under the agitator so its under 1/2, loop another rope under the other side. tie both loops so you can slide a board in each across the top of the washer. Then tie the 2 loops together on 2 sides down near the bottom of the agitator otherwise they will come out from under it when you pull. then slide the boards in the loops and lift up pulling up the agitator.That is the hard part. Remove the bolt on the coupling, and pull it off. The new one had to be lightly hammered on with a rubber mallet, then use the new bolt. the Agitator slide down and with a push down it popped on. Putting the new part on only took 15 min, removing the broken one took about 45 min. Washer is woking great now ! Saved over $100 or buying a new washer !

Took off old agitator, removed coupling that was bad and put new one on.

My 45 year old son did it in the shop, and it only took a short time before we were washing clothers again, and no water on the floor. The part came through the day after I ordered them. Thank you very much

Ok it was easier than typing this email. Remove selector knob. Use star*screwdriver to remove 4 screws at top. Pull the panel out toward you, lay down.Pry the lock tab up slightly with knife/flathead to clear the groove twist switch half turn counterclockwise and remove. Pull the vacuum hose off. Remove 2 wires. Now do it again in exact same order only in reverse. Youre done. Saved aprox. $280.00 and was a hero for the rest of the day.

I pulled up on the fin part of the agitator exposing the gear coupling. I unbolted the nut on top with a 12 mm socket. Once the nut and washer were removed I pulled up on the gear coupling and slid it right off. Reversed procedures to install the new one.

I followed the on-line video with just one exception and I had the old part off in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the part on Saturday afternoon and I had the part in hand by Wednesday morning at around 11:00 am. I spent less time installing the coupling kit than it took to take it apart and had 2 loads of clothes done before going to work on second shift. I would recommend anyone needing help contact Parts Select. They were great and very helpful.

I pulled the top of the agitator off (the softener dispenser) then pulled the agitator itself off. I had to pull with some force. I used the socket wrench to remove the bolt on top of the agitator coupling. I then pulled off the old agitator coupling, replaced it with the new part. Used the socket wrench to tighten the new bolt. Lined up the slots on the new coupling with the agitator top, it slid on with a little resistance. The last part to replace was the softener dispencer.
