lower cam broke
Remove the grandkids pictures from the door then empty the contents inside the door. Remove the top hinge cover and the top hinge bracket. Lift the door off the bottom pivot. Replace the lower cam by removing one screw. With the door in the horizontal position, remove and replace the upper cam. Apply a little grease on both cam surfaces. Align the door before tightening the top bracket and your done. If you did not take a picture of the door before you started the project you will have to rely on memory to arrange the pictures in the proper location.

Called Parts Select on Wednesday. Spoke to tech who found the exact part I needed at less than the price on the site. Said it would be 3-5 days, no problem. When I got home Thursday afternoon, part was already there ready to be installed. Very pleased.

light staying on
A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.

The ice crusher quit working
Removed the old one put in a new one, fairly simple. Would have been much easier if I had called the manufacturer first then ordered the part. The first part I ordered was the ice bucket, I thought I was getting the crusher mechanism, but it turned out to be the bucket only. When I finally got the right part it was really easy. I went ahead and kept the new bucket anyway.

The door clicked when opened or closed.
I followed the other web notes with one change .Since I too forgot the lube , I used a pry bar and block of wood to lift the door and a tooth pick to glob some lube in the lower hinge.

refrigerator would not cool/freeze
After an hour of searching the wire schematic diagram on the rear of the box , i looked for an obvious problem. Once I learned that this unit has a defrost switch built in in the control panel under the kick plate on the front of the unit, I pulled the large box out to reveal the small control panel with diods and computer chips mounted on the board with 8 wires running to that board, I learned that a mouse had somehow gotten into the box and crawled across the chip board, there he was fried and apparently the current continued to flow through his body and when the deterioration process reach acertain point my Amana decided it would not work. It was a very expensive unit and was told it would last 30 to 40 years with maint. So far it has lasted 17 years. Anyway replaced switch and the front handle of the unit while I had it apart for a good cleaning. The handle was a cinch.
Thanks
Jeff

Switch was not working after a repairman had fixed something else
Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.

ice agitator was stuck and wouldn't dispense ice
I've been messing around with the old part for literally years. Every now and then the metal agitator rod would spin out of the plastic cup that joins it to the freezer. I'd have to disassemble it and try to get it back into alignment. This time nothing worked, so I ordered a new assembly. It arrived even more promptly than PartSelect predicted and it installed in five minutes. I couldn't be happier!
