PSB9240BL2TS General Electric Microwave - Instructions

I myself had difficulties replacing bulbs, as I have no feelings in my fingers, so I asked my son while holding the bulb in the bubble wrap, He had no problems what so ever.

Removal of the bulbs was easy; reinserting was not as easy due to the configuration/placement of the bulbs in the unit. It was interesting that a simple suggestion to keep the bulbs covered with some of the packing material made sense as to not directly handling the bulb itself and causing any contamination of the bulb(s).

Removed tiny screw from under the microwave that held the lid shut where the light was located. Took out old bulb and replaced with new one. Very easy!!!!

Buying the bulb and doing the replacement my self was the best thing I had done. The same problem happened last year and I had the American Home shield insurance at that time so I called the company and they took three weeks between ordering and replacing the light, they showed me the final bill and it was $240.00....!!! This time I bought the light through partselect, got it within 48 hours and did he replacement myself within 15 min, I followed the instructions on the video and had to do an extra step ( due to the model I have) but I was able to replace the bulb and yooohooo it was working when I reconnect the power... I am a person who never tried to fix any electrical appliance before, but after this experience I will always try to do it myself... Believe me if I can do it and felt it was easy you can do it.... un plugged the oven. pulled the back cover off (3 screws). the heater terminations were there. removed heater wires. checked heater resistance with meter set on ohms reading was not correct. removed heater found a burned out place. installed new heater in reverse order of removal. works fine. If someone is a fare handy man this was a very simple task to do.

Removed cover, diagnosed problem, ordered part from Parts Select, received part in 2 days, replaced part, tested and replaced oven into built in space.

The instructions for removing and installing the new bulbs appear to be great; however, nothing tells me how to remove the microwave from the mounting so I can then invert it and take care of the bulb issue.

Disassembled the bottom of the microwave in order to access the lightbulb sockets. Unfortunately, 1 of the 2 replacement bulbs broke during the installation process - 1 of the pins broke off while trying to insert it. Now I have only 1 bulb so the light is not as bright as it should be. It took me several trips the HomeDepot only to have to return the bulbs. Fortunately, PartSelect shipped the correct replacement bulbs the first time.

Used new rubber gloves so as to not get finger prints on the bulbs. Hope that was ok. Trying to use a paper towel was a nuisance. Also had to use a mirror to see the slots for the bulbs. This was actually a pain to do especially since I am short and was on my toes to do this. Only the bright light works and before there was a night light and a bright light. So there you have it.

First unplugged the microwave, took top grill off, took control panel off, took wires off and used color coded tape to make sure they went back in right places, took fuse out and replaced it and put every thing back and it all worked fine and to top it off my wife did it all. So it was pretty easy.

Removed outer cover and then replaced the T. C. O. located on the left upper side if the unit. Replaced outer cover, tested oven. Oven operates normally.
