the chief of the house(not me) did not let the oven finish self cleaning process and that's why this happend.So for everybody - let it finish you'll get no trouble.But repair itself was easy.1-open the oven and take a racks out; 2-unscrew a support of the element on back wall(2 screws);3pull of the wall and unscrew back panel(5screws);4-unplug connectors and pull the element out of the oven.5-installation is the same but backward 4 to 1.It took me...think less then 4 minutes (I went for a beer).DIY and U save a tons.And BTW those guys from Part Select - excelent service.I'm glad that I found a website like that.It's all ready in my favorites.Thanx guys for quick and very good service.It came what I order and it came in 2(two)days.Keep in touch

I had an estimate from GE to repair my oven door that burnt and discolored after 8 years of service, the estimate was $386.00 to repair the gasket and install new door trim.

I found the repair parts on this website and was very surprised the parts only cost $120.00. Even better, the items were shipped same day and received the very next day...Excellent! The repair was so easy and took less than 30 minutes. PartSelect is the best!

The heating element in my electric oven cracked, I had something boil over onto the element, cracking it to the point of it sparking. First time I had ever seen this before. The appliance repair shop was going to charge me a small fortune to fix this so I ordered the part online, which it was 10.00 cheaper from here than from any other site. It got to me quickly and took me less than 15 minutes to repair and everything works great. All I had to do was unbolt 2 screws with a ratchet, unplug the element, plug in the new one, and bolt it back up and I was done!

Removed the broken socket, and replaced with new one.

I had to call for a appointment for repair with GE Appliance because I thought then it . .was something electrical. The technician came out & checked everything out, turned out it was not electrical, The technician went out to his truck got a light bulb from his truck, put it in & it worked. It cost me $121.00 for trip charge from GE appliance for a light bulb that worked, your light bulbs were defective twice. Very disappointed with your products, cost me alot of money for a good light bulb thru GE appliance

1.) I removed the old oven door gasket by taking out the ends of the gasket out of the bottom of the oven door first.
2.) Pry up on each one of the retainer clips, they easily pop out of their slots.
3.) Work your way around the oven door gasket.
4.) If any remain stuck you can just wiggle the clip around and it should pop out of each hole. If need be you could use pliers, but I did not need to.
5.) Take your new gasket, it should already have new clips, so you can throw away the old ones.
6.) Work your way around the oven door making sure the clips are nicely seated.
7.) Finish off by inserting the ends back into the 2 holes on each side of the bottom of the oven door, I just used a small spoon to make sure the tops were nicely placed in.
8.) If your gasket needs to compress, you can close the oven door and lock it that should hold it in place and compress it.
9.) All done!

When we moved into our new home I discovered that the oven that came with the home did not have any racks in it. I ordered these racks because they said they were compatible with Hotpoint ovens. However, when the racks arrived they were just a tad too wide to easily slide in the oven. With a bit of force my husband was able to shove the racks in. Luckily I don't cook enough to care if they are moved again because I don't think they'll come out easily.

unplug stove first...take back of stove off to get to burner switch remove wires colors coded.. get new switch put wires on the same way.plug stove in test burner...very simple to replace.and save $$$$$$$$

Unplug stove first. Raised the stove top and propped up useing wooden spoon and wife assistance holding up. Pay attention to spot brackets hand to top. Removed sheet metal screws from bracket clamp holding burner in place. Removed one extension bracket from old burner and transfeered to new burner. Removeing one bracket clamp allows the other one to act like a hinge and make for easy removal and replacement. Back of burner had corresponding numbers which made it easy to replace brackets in same place as old. I carefully take one electrical wire at a time from old burner and transfeered to the new burner. Replaced burner same way it came off.

TURNED OFF CIRCUIT BREAKER FIRST. Pulled Stove from wall, Removed 5 screws to remove back plate. Unplugged 2 spade electrical connections. Unpluged temp. sensor plug. Opened oven door and removed 2 screws holding element to top of oven. removed screw holding temp probe to element. Installed the elment in the reverse order starting with the temp probe. when finished with install, I tested the unit before covering the back. I used a oven temp tester to make sure that when the element went out that the temp probe was not damaged. Everything checked out fine and I finished installing the back cover and putting stove in place. Cleaned up area and JOB DONE.

Having done this replacement before, it was very easy. My advice to anyone having a similar case is to approach the connections from the back of the stove by removing the center back panel for easy access to the connection terminals.

Un plug the power first.

Took the old element out and removed two nut holding the element in place. Remved back access panel on the back bottom of the unit. Disconnected wiring to part pulling the clip off of the connector.

Done fixed saved the house call.

1) Turn off power at circuit breaker panel
2) Slide out Range from wall
3) Unplug Range
4) Remove back panel and unplug electrical connections to socket
5) From front of oven, remove glass cover over old oven light bulb and remove flange that holds socket and bulb
6) Remove old socket from mounting flange and discard.
7) Place new socket into mounting flange
8) Screw mounting flange and new socket into the oven from front. Reattach electrical connections from back.
9) Screw in new light bulb from front
10) Replace existing glass cover over new light bulb and snap wire holder in place
11) Replace back panel
11) Plug in range
12) Slide range back to original position
13) Turn on power
Works like a charm! Thanks for having the parts after 30 years!

First, UNPLUG OVEN. Then, remove oven door and place stove on work bench! JUST KIDDING!! Honestly, the repair would be easy if that were possible.The hardest part is kneeling, standing, hunching over, twisting your body holding flashlight in your mouth, etc...THEN, trying to re-attach wires screws etc. The repair is straight forward. unscrew all screws holding element in, pull element out about 6 inches, detach wires, and re-attach. Simple right? Maybe if you're 1 foot 2 inches tall or have 6 foot arms

I first used an Allen wrench to unscrew the two screws that held the back of the oven door to the front. Then when I got that apart it revealed about 12 other screws that held the handle and trim vent piece on together. I unscrewed each of those with the socket set (it took me a while to find the exact size I needed). I took off the handle and trim piece and slid the new piece onto the slots, put the handle back on and then worked in reverse order to screw all the screws back into their places. The only problem was that I didn't realize some of the screws were a bit longer than others and by the time I took them all off and went to screw them back in, I realized that I hadn't noticed which places needed the longer ones and which had the shorter ones. So if you are doing this repair note that not all the screws are the same and you will want to remember which ones go where before putting them in a big pile like I did. After all the screws where in place I pushed the back of the oven door together with the front and used the Allen wrench again to screw them tightly together. Pretty easy overall- at least for a housewife!!
