GTS18IBRW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Defrosted the refrigerator,power off and cut the 2 wires on thermostat and sodered the new one on and shrink tube sealed the wires,refrigerator works like new!

Only took a screwdriver to take two screws out & install new slide with the two existing screws. Very easy. Took less than 5 minutes. Great website I found on Google right away, just by searching for refridgerator parts. After ordering part, only took a few days to come in.

Using Google search engine I was able to quickly locate the replacement rack for the refrigerator. When it arrived, I installed it by attaching it to the interior frame of the refrigerator.

easy pry out, disconnect wiring, connect on new switch and press in switch.

Watched a youtube on capacitors- though on a motor with a pulley, the symptoms were the same, motor running and pulley not turning-bad capacitor. Took a chance for a 17+ dollar part vs a new compressor. It worked.

Googled the model number of refrigerator with symptoms of "refrigerator wont run". Parts select web site appeared on my screen, opened Parts Select website, Partselect said probable cause of my frige symptom was that the run capacitor usually burns out 51% of the time. They were correct with the diagnosis 100%. I ordered the run capacitor for $23.00, installed it in 10 minutes, refrigerator runs good as new. Thank you for saving me cost of service call. I probably saved $200 or more. I will use Partselect again with my next problem. THANK YOU,

removed the inside fridge electrical panel and swapped switches

Pulled the old gasket off, approximately 5 seconds. Put the new one in, starting from the corners, with no tools, approximately 2 minutes. Coated gasket with a thin film of petroleum jelly, approx. 1 minute.

The repair is very simple, the gasket sits in a channel in the door. Just start with a corner and pull the old gasket out. Once you've removed the old gasket, push the new gasket into the same channel. Make sure you've completely pushed in the new gasket all the way around the door. It's as simple as that. The repair takes less than 5 minutes per door.

Easy. Followed the video instrucations. the part was right there next to the compressor.

I started removing the switch by prying on the right side with a screwdriver, when it emerged enough I used pliers to finish removing it. I then unpluged rhe wires from the bad switch and pluged them on the new switch and "poped" it into the hole.

Connected the 2 wires and pushed in the switch until it clicked.

Gently pry out switch in door jam with screwdriver and pull both connectors off and put connectors on new switch then push switch back into the hole. Looked it up on the internet and video showed how to and also had link to new part, ordered and less than a week later the fridge is bright again. I have an older freezer also and it seems that they all use the same switches. Very Very easy

I came home to find a mess near the refridgetor. My teenage daughter or son had made themselves a peterbutter and strawberry homemade jam sandwhich. The strawberry jam was all over the inside of the door and on the floor. What a mess, so I was waiting for my husband to change the gasket around the door anyways. So I though to myself I just change it myself. The old one just came off and I pulled the new one out of the box and I went right on with not much effort.
