AB1924PEKB5 Amana Refrigerator - Instructions

A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.

Disconnected electrical plug between ice maker and frig. Removed 3 screws holding ice maker in place and removed ice maker. Ice tray shelf only uses the upper 2 screw locations. It would have been helpful if I had been told that the original screws holding the ice maker would not work because they are too short, and that I would need some special washers/spacers that fit the new shelf. Luckily I had longer screws available and I was able to fabricate the washers from some scrap plastic. Installed successfully.

replaced electric control board, defrost for six hours. next day (24 hours) same problem, dusterhoff2928@charter.net

Although there where no instructions, reading the comments by others made this a really easy replacement.

I noticed that the refrigerator was having trouble maintaining temperature. Thought it might be time for new one until I found out that a new frig was $5k to $7K. Just happened to notice that the light switch didn't look quite right (was not sitting sqaure to the door). Once I pressed it it came loose. I then realized the the lights were staying on (50 watts of heating). Replaced the switch and the frig started working like new.

disconnected el. power to fridge. pried out broken switch with small screwdriner and pulled out w/water pump pliers. installed new switch and pressed into opening.

removed the shelf inserted the new rail, replace the shelf and the crisper bins.

Remove 2 screws/old handle off and new one on-simple?

I watched your video. The part came faster than expected. The video was very helpful. I am very happy with the service.

I used a knife blade to slip under the edge of old switch to pray it out of the hole it was inserted into, switched the wires and replaced the new switch into the same hole. It took about five minutes!

removed the 2 screws that held the panel in place, had to reach up and push on locking tabs to lower trhe front of the panel. was able to then push on the locking tab of the switch to release it. removed the wires, replaced them onto the new switch, and snapped the switch into place. the rest was reverse of the uninstall process.

Removed the old handle with screwdriver and replaced the new one in a reverse manner. Very easy to do.

Poped ou the old switch, connected new switch and pushed back into socket.

I took the shelf and drawers out and replaced the rail, put the shelf and drawers back in. Easy as pie.

Pry old switch and pull out. Disconect two wires. Put two wires on new switch, must be inserted right and connections not loose. Put switch in, making shure wies do not come off and snap in place
