Wish that I had known about the video before disassembling. I did not know if it needed a part or was just jammed. It was clear that i needed a worm gear. So I ordered that. It turned out that I needed the Pinion Shaft w/ gear too. So another order. The shipping far exceeded the cost of the parts. NOTE: Clear off as much grease as necessary to be certain that there are no stripped gears anywhere, the order the parts. I took the mixer head off of the stand. I would suggest that you take a bath towel, roll each end towards the center, and place the mixed head so that it is supported on both sides by the towel rolls. NOTE2: Shipping was great 2 days or less. One part arrived on a Saturday. P>S> I do not know the age of this mixer. The age drop down menu should have an UNKNOW option.

The brushes on the inside of the motor were destroyed. We thought that it would be easier to just replace the brush holder and the brushes, however, the brushes were easy! and QUICK! The brush holders...not so much. We had lots of problems getting the brush holders into place because of a metal piece that had to fit perfectly on top of the brush holder. It made it easier when I held the mixer upside down (we dissembled it) and my husband did his magic on fixing the brush holders. Pray that you won't need to replace the brush holders because it was NO FUN...but the brushes were QUICK AND EASY :)

Took it to repair shop

Easy removal of old screw cap, but new one didn't just drop in. Had to scrape paint and a little aluminum to make it fit. Finally did, and it works fine now.

it was a kitchen aid dough mixer, had to take the top portion off and replace the assembly with a new one that holds the teflon gear. You can purchace the gear only and it becomes less expensive, but at the time I didn't take the chance cause the greese was there and didn't want to take a chance. Its a simple repair by removing some cotter pins and phillips head screws.

After I dropped a part of the shield into my mixer the motor screamed and I unplugged the mixer. I found out I had a broken worm gear. I then order the part and per the helpful video I did the repair and I also changed the brushes my mixer is up and running waiting for the holiday baking season thanks to Part select.com Very easy Instructions to follow I am very happy with the results. Followed directions video on line. good directions.

Unscrewed 3 Philips screws. Pried out the old screw cap. It had been there for 25 years and had flour, egg, etc. build up over the years. Did use a needle nose plier to lift it out. Put in the new one. Needed a rubber mallet to snug it down. Design has changed slightly over the years. Put the 3 screws back in and as they say in England, "you have an uncle named Bob."

watched instruction video (from Part Select), the demonstration was close enough to enable me to repair the mixer. Newer mixers are disassembled differently.

I discovered the brushes were worn, and one side had broken off and lodged against the armature.I got lucky as I removed the brush caps and the sleeves the brushes fit into (simple job) and was able to hand turn the armature so the pieces fell down into the bottom of the mixer housing.After removing them, I replaced the brushes and the mixer runs like new. Unscrew and dismounted the mixer, gather all pieces and screws, cleaned and washed every part, took away the old grease and replaced it with a new one, also looked carefully for the lost teeth and found them, Put grease in every part, put back and screwed all the pieces of the mixer, then tried the mixer which worked really well.
