Very easy. Enclosed instructions were excellent! Part arrived early than anticipated, also.

Remove blender jar to get to drive cog. Use a 1/4 to 3/8 flat open-end wrench to hold cog shaft then turn the cog with your hand CLOCKWISE to loosen. Screw new cog gear on COUNTERCLOCKWISE hand tight. Reassemble your blender and you're good to go. It takes a very thin flat wrench but even if you have to buy a set the're not very expensive. Good luck.

Thanks to the good advise of those who did this before me ,I know I need a very slender wrench to get between the screwed on base of the coupling and the copy of the base of the blender.
I tried to file one myself, but the metal was too weak. Because i had the size (from what I filed), I measured and knew i needed a 7 MM wrench. I bought one at the parts store and ground it thin enough to slip into the small space and from there it was a five minute job.

A very flat wrench or needle nose pliers was needed. I could not get the nut unscrewed with what I had so I had to mail the unit to a service center for repair. They were able to use the part I had purchased but if I had known I wouldn't be able to do it I could have saved a little money in the shipping I had to pay when I ordered the part.

Read provided instructions but unfortunately looked at part and re-interpeted the instructions....Should have just followed instructions as printed. I tried to pry up and unscrew instead f just prying off...

Followed instruction sheet, but as it stated just remove by hand, not so, had to grind open end wrench to fit between coupler and base to fit flat sides of shaft, then use channel locks to break lose and to unscrew most of the way off.
But in the end the part worked just fine.

Tried to follow the included instructions - no way that just prying the coupler off would work without bending the shaft and wrecking the threads! Then used a flat, open-ended 7mm wrench to hold the shaft and pliers to remove the coupling. The coupler was so tight that I could not unscrew it without the wrench slipping. Ended up shoving a screwdriver through the fanblade from the bottom (unplug it first!) and use the pliers to unscrew the coupler (remember, it's a left handed thread!)

it need a special tool...to remove the broken coupleing..had to have my brother-in-law who fixes industrial equipment, remove it with a special tool, that a home owner would not have

Directions included with replacement part were no help...maybe I'm stupid, but prying up on a threaded metal part didn't help unthread it at all.
Vise grips solved the problem. I used vise grips to remove the rubber from the coupler while it was still attached to the blender base, exposing the metal base to the coupler. (yes, I used vise grips to destroy the damaged coupler. after all the hell I went through to try to do it as the directions said, it was very satisfying.)
After removing the rubber, I used the vise grips to bend and distort the metal base until I could get a pair of needle-nose pliers around the drive shaft and hold it still while I unscrewed the now bent-up metal base. Victory!
I thoroughly recommend this method to anyone else, as using vise grips to destroy something is very gratifying.

Removed the old worn-out coupling and replaced with the new one as described in the instructions included with the new part.

When the part came it had complete repair instructions with it. I followed the instructions and it was very easy. I had to pry the old coupleing off the threaded shaft. You wouldn't think that would work but the coupleing was made of soft metal so when you pry it off the hard metal shaft it didn't mess up the threads. Then you just screw the new part on counterclockwise and the first time you use the blender it tightens itself. Very easy!!

Removed base bolts. Removed base. Replaced coupling. Replaced base

Repair parts instructions said to pry around in four places with screw driver between motors base and underside of drive gear and it should pop right off. Well it didn't and I had to go around many times being care full not to damage finish of appliance. Finally it came off leaving thread remains on the tapered threaded motor shaft. Using a scriber, I dug out and removed all thread remains and then easily screwed on the new replacement completing the job. The blender, a good one, now works fine again.

Using information from other users, I pried/ripped the rubber portion off the drive coupler, leaving the aluminum disc base exposed. I did not have a thin flat wrench of the right size to hold the drive shaft, so I wound up carefully inserting the wrench into the motor to keep it from turning while I loosened the disc with pliers. Once loosened, it was easily unscrewed, and the new coupling screwed on.

1. I tried prying off the old coupling with a screwdriver as described in the directions that came with the new part. It didn't move.
2. I then broke off the rest of the plastic around the old disk.
3. Using an adjustable wrench, I was able to bend the old aluminum disk up all around, to allow more space between the disk and shaft.
4. By holding onto the shaft with a needle nose pliers, I was able to turn the bent disk with the wrench and the disk came off.
5 Installing the new coupling was a 5 second job.
