Ice maker filled too full and ice froze in the basket and a piece was broke on the icemaker itself.f
My son did it , and showed me what he did when he was finished.

My ice breaker started leaking and making noise anf the stripper broke.
I ended up needing to order a new ice maker because the one I had is discontinued. I'm a 65yr old grandma and I did it myself!!!! The hardest part was finding the tool to loosed the nuts. I took the old one out and just put the new one right in it's place. Easy as pie.

The auger and ice bucket assembly was worn out and rusty
I simply removed the screws holding the plastic face plate to the old auger/ice bucket and attached it to the new one. It was a simple procedure

The existing auger was rusty and made the ice taste bad.
Removed the screws holding the faceplate. Then couldn't change out the auger so needed to remove all of the other screws in the unit and fully disassemble the icemaker unit. Should have marked the parts as I took them apart as I needed to find a parts diagram on-line to reassemble. Not sure that I put them back together right as the unit will not dispense whole ice cubes as it did previously.

Ice maker didn't work.
Replaced icemaker assembly. Only 3 Phillips screws to remove the old assembly. Pretty much an exact swap. Was easy to replace but the connecting cable on the new replacement assembly wasn't very easy to make fit. Had to force it into a location that would be out of the way and allow everything to operate properly. That connecting cable should be more flexible and adapt to the fridge a little more friendly.

icemaker stripper fall a part
instalation was very easy - but the part was 3/4 inch to long and a 1/32 inch to wide.Trimmed it with the "faithfull"
Dremel and it works!The instalation part of the "job" was less then 10 min.

Ice maker arm disconnected from frame causing problems.
The icemaker arm disconnected from the metal frame. This caused the icemaker to cycle and the heater to come on and stay on until the plastic parts melted causing a mess and stink. This action melted the ice and then the water fell through the frozen items in the freezer and refreezed in the lower portion. OK, I remover the dead icemaker and tossed it away. I installed the new icemaker and the wiring harness didn't fit right (way to long). I retrieved the old icemaker and removed the wiring harness from it. I removerd the new ice maker and installed the old wiring harness to the new icemaker. I then installed the new icemaker, plugged it in and turned on the power. No water, I ordered the dual solenoid water valve, installed it with difficulty (another story) the turned on the power. I reinstalled the ice bin and found it didn't fit. The icemaker was to low and couldn't be adjusted, 1/4" higher would have been great. I shoved in the bin anyway, I was out of ice for my scotch, and it started making ice.

Door wouldn't close properly
First we removed the door. Then we had to hammer the old part off including the old rivot. We fould a screw that fit and put this piece on. We held the door in place and screwed the hinge on the main unit.

The fresh food door on the refrigerator would not stay closed
First I took everything out of the fresh food door, then I removed the top hinge cover using a philips head screwdriver, and a nutdriver for the two screws holding the upper hinge. Lifted the door off the bottom pin, and placed it on the floor. Then took off the bottom hinge and used the Dremel tool to grind off the rivet holding the broken door cam on the bottom hinge. Used a nut and bolt to hold the new cam in place, and put the lower hinge back on. Then replaced the other cam on the bottom of the door itself, using the nutdriver. (Be sure to buy two cams, and have the bolt and nut to replace the rivet). Reinstalled the bottom hinge, put the door on, replaced the top hinge, and presto! Works great! Thanks to the others on this site for their stories - really helped make it an easy and quick repair!

Auger Helix Display was badly rusted and water stained
Important: The complete Model No. of the refrigerator must be used to obtain the correct part. (Before ordering) To determine the parts required, I removed the ice storage compartment from the Auger Helix Display (AHD) assembly. Note: (A saucer can be place inside the ice storage compartment to keep the ice cubes contained until the parts arrive.) I then disassembled the (AHD) and related parts from the ice storage compartment by removing the "C" clip from the end of the (AHD) and unscrewing the plastic retainer from the end of the shaft counter clockwise. After the housing was removed, I should have taken a photo of the parts hidden by the plastic housing before they were removed from the (AHD) shaft. It is very important NOT TO remove the splined pin from the plastic part that secures the two fixed cutters together.This sub-assembly must be re-installed exactly as it was in the housing notch. (These cutters are held firm by the housing notch and free to spin on the shaft. All other cutters are fixed to the shaft to force ice between the rotating cutters and the fixed cutters for crushing.) I removed the splined pin for cleaning and found that it could be re-assembled about 5 incorrect ways. Note the order and direction of the cutters and plastic spacers before removing from the (AHD) shaft. There are no installation instructions or drawings with the part. The drawing from the website was not detailed enough to determine the proper positioning of all of the parts that are hidden by the plastic housing. Once the parts were properly re-installed, the ice crusher and despenser work perfectly. Note: Clean all parts before re-assembly. The total time should be about an hour if directions are followed.

The dispenser water reservoir had a pin hole leak.
1. Turned off the water supply to the refrigerator.
2. Removed the front panel and disconnected the water line to the front left.
3. Removed the left rear (freezer side) panel and disconnected the reservoir from the main water supply input. This was a little tricky to figure out. You must push in the water line at the same time pushing in the coupling. Then pull the line out while keeping the coupling pressed in.
4. Removed the screw that holds the reservoir to the back of the refrigerator.
5. Pulled the old reservoir out and replaced it with the new one.
6. Basically the rest is the reverse of the above. It took a little bit to fish the lines through the original path they came.

Overall this was an easy repair. If I had known how the coupling in step 3 worked this would have been a 15-minute project.

Door Not Closing Tightly + Staying Open
Turned off water to ref , removed bottom kick plate , got a towel and disconnected the water line plastic fitting and un screwed the (2) tube clamps un screwed the coupling and ((carefully )) slid out the tube from the compression ferrels ! ( Be careful and do not break or distort them + remember exactly the order they are removed ! Slid the protector spring shroud from the plastic tube , took ogg the top hinge cover then remover the top hinge . Carefully lifted the door off feering the plastic tube through the bottom hinge with my foot ! Got the door off removed the bottom hinge + put the new on on, then removed the door cam which was broken on the bottom of the door , lifted the door up and carefully fed the water line through the new bottom hinge . Attached the top hinge and reassembled the rest same as I had dissambled it . Turned on water ( checked for leaks ) ! All working 100% a-ok ! This company is the best ! Ordered the part at 1 pm and had the part at 2 pm the following day many thanks : )

Ice-maker grinding faceplate heavily rusted causing rusty ice
Disassembled ice-maker, noting what screws went where, what direction ice release control arm pointed, and noting how the control arm spring was mounted. The door assembly comes off first followed by the circular assembly that houses the ice door and last grinding arms. It is quite easy see how it comes apart as you look at the screws. Remove the screw holding the back end of the control arm and note the spring position. The control arm needs to be turned to line up notches to pull it thru a faceplate hole while rotating the arm about the "U" that is on the outside of the faceplate in the door housing. There is a retaining clip holding the rotating impeller to remove to complete the dis-assembly. Use vinegar to clean rust out of bin and other parts around the faceplate. Assemble the unit in the reverse order to complete the job.
