22308 ((1988)) Kenmore Range - Instructions

The burned control switch was not functioning. It took a while to find the range model number and then the part number of the switch. It was cool that I could see a picture of the part with the part number on the internet so that I was sure to buy the right part.
Once the part arrived, I turned off the power to the range (circuit breaker, 220 V) removed two screws, used nut driver to disconnect switch handle, marked the 5 wires going to the switch, used the needle nose plier to remove the wires, the attached wired to the new switch, placed switch back into position, used nut driver to attach switch to the control unit. Rescrewed control unit in place with two screws.
turned on circuit breaker and tested. All good.
It is clear that this old Jenn Air range and be completely redone to good as new. All parts are available

Unplugged grill element and plugged coil element.

I removed the grill top and unpluged the element. then i pluged in the radiant element cartridge and i was done. It took me longer to unbox the cartridge than to install it.

1-Unplugged the old 2 burner element.
2-Plugged in the new element.
3-Elapsed time approx. 10 seconds.
4-It took longer to remove the new element from it's shipping
carton than it took to remove the old & install the new.

I removed the stove top cartridge from the stove top and plugged in the new one. No tools were needed. It was very easy.

First of all the part arrived a day and a half after ordering which we thought was remarkable. We unplugged the griddle unit and plugged in the cartridge with two burners. It is beautiful.

The 15-year-old Jen-Air stove started smelling really bad. I thought it was a dead animal stuck in the exhaust tube which runs under the floor to the outside. I flushed it out with clorine bleach, but it was still bad. It turned out to the be the grease filter. I washed it every week in the diswasher, but it just was not enough to get it clean enough. Finally, the grease went rancid and smelled really bad. This "repair" took about 30 seconds.

Lifted out and unplugged grill. Plugged in and put in place new module. I tested it right then and it worked great!

Took out the old burner & replaced it with the new burner. Wanted a raised burner for large pan & kettles.

Simply unpluged the old cartridges and plugged in the new ones, it could not have been easier. My 18 year old cooktop looks brand new. My old cartridges were black and the new ones are stainless, but, the look is good, since most new appliances are now stainless. The best part is that it cost less than half of what a new cooktop would have cost plus all of the mess that would have been made tearing out the old one and installing a new one. SHUT OFF BREAKER! Remove exhaust grill and switch knob. Remove cooktop switch panel by removing two screws and sliding panel toward exhaust grill. Remove switch retainer nut with deep socket. Transfer wires one by one to new switch. Install new switch tightening retainer nut. Reinstall switch panel with two screws, push knob onto shaft. Turn on breaker.

unplugged old one and installed new griddle and burners. very easy and less than 30 seconds to complete.

I pulled out the old cartridge cleaned the stoptop up. Plugged in the the new cartridge ..there was a little steam left over fromt he cleaning when I turned up the heat but it went away. Looks great and save me $3k the difference in the price of a new stove top.

I simply removed the old cartridge by lifting it up and pulling the plug end out. I slid the new coil cartridge with the plug end in its place. The grill replacement was similar. Remove the grll grates, pull out the burner element from its plug position, remove the grill rocks and insert the new coil cartridge in its place. No tools or special skills required. It's like I now have a new cook top.
