21239 Jenn-Air Wall Oven - Instructions

For those with an older Jenn-Air, this range has stood up under the test of time and is still in good condition. We even called Jenn-Air for the parts and they no longer carry the oven door seal for this make. Thank you PartSelect for carrying the seal. We did call in a repair man and are glad we did as taking apart the door was quite involved. We were very blessed to locate a repair man who did Jenn-Air and are very pleased with the repair.

My 31 yr. old grandson very carefully took the whole door apart. Took out the broken window and put the new one back in. He was very careful to put every screw back in the original hole. It took him exactly one hour.

I had repair men replace the door hinges 2times and decided the 3rd time to do it myself and save some $. ordering was a chinch, received the parts in 2 days and followed instructions posted on this site. They were excellent. Just a few things I would stress: Lift UP the door to remove, not open the door fully and pull out and also make sure to take the small pins out of the new hinges before closing. They are so small you could over look them. The person who put detailed instructions on this site is to be commended for clarity and detail on "How To" I really appreciated it.

The repair was straight forward. Remove about a million screws and several layers. The only challenge was loosening some baked on screws in the innermost layer. Repair would have been less than an hour if not for those screws. Key advice is to pay attention to the order that each layer went back on. My oven/stove is about 25 years old, but works great. The part was backordered at a local appliance part store from May to ???. I ordered it at PartSelect and it was also backordered for a couple of months. I got it delivered to my home from PartSelect before it ever came in from the local store.

Replaced oven gasket and both oven hinges. Repairs did not work. Oven door is actually worst. Do not waste your time replacing the oven hinges unless they are actually broken. When to Ace hardware and bought a package of 3 super magnets for about $10. Practice placing the magnets on metal strip on outside of the actual oven vs the oven door. This metal strip is not galvanized for which the oven cleaning latch goes through. Appeared to solve the problem. I then used epoxy glue to insure the super magnets would permanently stay in place. These are dangerous magnets that must be kept away from children and pets. You will spend more time separating these magnets from each other than gluing them in place. This part I will let you figure out but the only way to separate the 3 magnets from each other is the slide them, one at a time, from each other. Now I am awaiting 4 to 6 hours for the epoxy to cure. removed front of range door. removed old seal and replaced with new seal. clean and reassemble range door. repair very simple and fast.

Remove the door. Place small screwdriver in each door arm to prevent extraction. Remove approx 20 screws. Remove the seal. Replace the new seal. you will need help in holding the seal in place until you car install at least two screws. Very straight forward. Took 20 minutes. Even a cave man can do it.

We took the door off, you have to be careful of the hinges popping back. We put small screwdrivers on each side and held the hinges out, this made the door easy to just stand up and slide back on the hinges. The glass replacement was simple just a few screws. We spent $127.00 on the part and shipping and a new wall oven would have cost us $1500.00. Thanks for making this part available.

We found the youtube video created by partselect.com and followed it. We took the door apart, cleaned the inside, removed the old hinges and replaced them with the new ones. Now the door works perfectly!

Followed instructions. Two screws frozen. Unable to loosen. Forced to grind heads off and replace with new screws.

Decided since the glass was broken I might as well replace the door seal. Getting the door off and on was the most difficult part of the process as the door hinge springs are quite strong. Remove screws on the hinge. Slide door off hinges. The hinges will close rather hard. Remove screws along the outside, then inside. Keep all the screws in some order as they are different sizes. More time to clean the door than actually installing the glass and seal. Re assemble. Trick to getting the door back on is to open the hinge spring to the broil position and place a thin screwdriver in an opening in each to keep in an open position. Slide door down to the srewdriver stop and then fully open. You can then slide the door fully onto the hinge, replace the hinge screws. Easy ,for a simple housewife.

We watched the video demo & followed it step by step. The project took about 35 minutes and we replaced the hinge on each side of the oven. First we removed the oven from the wall, then dismantled it & cleaned it thoroughly, removed the old hinges and replaced with new ones. the only problem we had was that the pin holding the hinge open was missing on one of the hinges, but we cut a nail and inserted it to hold the hinge open. The job was completed quickly, and the oven door fits and works well. Thanks for the video--it really helped us.

I watched the youtube video that was provided by this website on my computer while doing this repair step by step. It was a snap!

In my 26 year old oven the screws to remove the element were extremely difficult to remove, but with 6-10 applications of Liquid Wrench and brute strength we finally did. We were a bit concerned with the insulation that was protruding but used electrical tape to secure the wires to the leads for good measure. All was successfull. I love my Jenn-Aire double oven!

Took the oven door off hinge. Took door apart pulled off old seal from inside of the inside panel of door. Replaced with new seal.
