The dryer just stopped after a new load of clothes was put in. It appeared to be a power problem as there were not warnings, it just stopped. After checking the power, I suspected it was an electrical interlock problem. After nosing around, I traced the power to the dryer door interlock. Sure enough the switch was fine, but the mechanical lever was worn away. After Googling around for a replacement I found PartSelect.Com. Found the part, ordered it, and I am back in business. My wife is not happy though, as she wanted a new dryer:)

Loosened two screws in back top of drier and pulled forward and up to hinge top of drier and allow access to door switch.Took out broken actuator spring and replaced with new one,snapped lid back in place and put screws back in hinges and job was done.

same as I described above. However i was amazed when the part showed up the very next day...I was expecting maybe 3 or so days later. I wiil absolutely use PartSelect in the future.

Very easy to repair remove top of dryer and took out to screws and put switch back in place replaced screws and put top back on. Easy!!

My husband took the plastic cover off and took out old bulb and screwed in the new one. Then put the cover back on.

First I popped open the top of the dryer so I could see the part. I removed two screws from inside the door that hold the spring lever and switch together. I removed the spring lever which is also like a bracket that holds the switch in place. Put the spring lever back in place over the switch and reinserted the two screws. Done in about 10 minutes.

The dryer door has a switch hidden inside the machine housing. The switch has a lever that protrudes and when the door it closed it hits this lever allowing the dryer to activate.

To replace: pulled out the lint trap, remove 2 screws under the lint trap. Pry the top open at the front (it's press fit in place and will pry open with a flat screwdriver).

Lift lid up and prop open (like the hood of a car). Find the switch at the front of the machine just above the drum. Remove 2 screws holding the switch in place (from just inside the drum area). Pull off the broken clip bracket, replace with new one and screw it back into place. Be careful not to drop the screws or bracket or they will fall into the bottom and you may never see them again. I can't stress this enough!!

Let the lid down and give it a good rap on the front to seat it back into place, replace the 2 screws under the lint trap. Replace the lint trap. And your done.

4. Replaced glass cover

Replaced the cap over the door switch so when the door closed the switch was engaged

drilled a 7/16 diameter hole directly in the center of the two mounting holes filed it square big enough so as the spring tip fits thru now the door closes on the spring which actuates the switch looks and works perfect.

I first noticed that the tab of the door switch snapped off so the safety on/off switch did not work when the door was closed. I temporarily taped the switch closed so I could use the dryer. I found the model number from the unit and easily found the schematic and part description from the website. I placed the order and had the part in a few days. Problem solved. Thank you

I pulled down the wire around the glass cover. . . Released on end of the wire from its holder being careful to not let the glass cover drop. Unscrewed the bulb and replaced with replacement. Easy, easy.

Took top of d then dryer loose then replaced switch actuator put dryer top back in place. Not that hard.

I am one Happy Gal.....Looked to fix,thought about just buying a new dryer..In the end talked to the local repair guy...said I could do it myself. (why pay him)..I live in small town.Ordered your part,watched the video and did it...Saved myself over $500, plus the $125 for delivery.for that new dryer..(Small town in the forest!)Very easy to install....Hope to use this dryer for many months perhaps years..It is 30 years old! After watching some on-line vids, I determined it was the center post, or tub, gasket at the bottom. A cheap part, and easy to snap-out the old and snap-in the new - But - I had to dissassemble the washer into individual washer component molecules. Luckily, I'd done this recently to replace the clutch drive, then the motor, then this. Not too bad, really. Washer body off (2 screws and two snap-links); agitator out (7/16" socket on extension); bang off tub nut (heavy hammer and punch); bang off drive block (hammer again); and pull tub up an out. Tub drain disconnected (pliers); pull off level sensing tube; three spring mounts (nutdriver); then just yank tub up. Poke out Centerpost gasket; snap in a new one; reassemble. Piece of cake.
