The old seal had become brittle, cracked and fragmented and would no longer fit in the slot. Without it, washing had become a real mess. I took the new seal and snapped it in within a few seconds and was back up and running again. I looked everywhere for this seal, but this site was the only place I could find it. Thanks for having such a wide range of parts. This inexpensive broken part had made my machine unusuable. If it were not for you, I probably would have to resorted to a Sears appliance technician who would have charged $60 for just showing up.

Old one fell off in my hands. I just snapped the new one in its place. Super easy. Repairman wanted $43 for the part plus the labor of $39. THe part cost me just $20 with shipping. Thanks!

Diagnosing the problem was somewhat easy as I noticed that one of the 2 steel clips that holds the pump to the motor had broken and was lying on the lower panel. I removed the pump and hoses and cleaned all of them thoroughly with clean water. I reconnected the pump with a "rigged" connector that lasted a couple of months before the pump's teeth were probably ground down and would not grab the motor's shaft - the pump is plastic.

Given the machine was out of warranty and reading about the class-action suit against Whirlpool on this particular model I thought maybe it was cheaper to buy a new one - NOT. Knowing which part was at fault I researched online for spare parts and discovered PartSelect.com. Their web interface of the parts diagram made it very easy to locate the exact part to order and I had it shipped next day. I received the part I ordered and spent 45-60 minutes removing the old motor and pump (2 pieces) and replacing it with the new one which is now one assembly. The only tricky part was removing and replaing the wire harness and connector. The washer has been working now for about a month with no problems and in fact the new motor and pump are much more quiet compared to the old one.

Something worth while to perform while repairing the washer is to detach the hoses and flush out the lint and other "crud" in the lower box that controls the flow of water with 2 ball floats. I read somewhere that the lint may prevent the float balls from closing the chamber and thereby removing the water in the basket leading to the "OB" error on the spin cycle. I simply took a garden hose with a sprayer attached and pushed out the lint and other junk with the high pressure (I did this inside the house - a little messy)

I will use PartSelect again the next time my wife yells something is broken.

Removed bottom cover, two screws. Removed pump. three screws and electrical plug. Reassembled same. Approx. fifteen minutes.

replaced missing screw and pad and now machine works perfectly

I removed the torn part which just pulled off of the lid and snapped in the new piece. No tools were needed. I also wanted to add that it was great doing business with Part Select. The part came well packaged, it came in a timely manner, and it was the correct part ! I will try Part Select for any of my future repair part needs.

Seal snapped in

My husband was ready to look for a new machine but since it works so well I decided to look on line for the replacement. Found it. Received it in the mail in three days and I popped it in. Thanks!!!

Turn water off at the inlet valve of hose you are replacing. Disconnect inlet hose the washer and let water drain out in a bucket. Then remove old hose. Replace new hose to inlet valve then washer . Use pliers to tighten both ends. Turn on water to check leaks at both ends of hose.

Turned the washer on it's front, removed the bottom plate. The pump was then easy to remove the three bolts holding it. Disconnected electrictal connections reverse procedure to install.

the original piece had 3 metal clips that held the strip in place. It was a matter of sliding the strip off and sliding the new replacement part on. Time involved was less than one minute. It took longer to find the part than to install it. The part was ordered Thursday night and it was installed by Monday! Great service!

It was simple slide off the old seal and then clip on the new one. I also want to thank the workers at Parts Select, it was very simple and everything went great. I will be using them again and passing the word on.

Ordered the part and a couple of days later I popped off the old and popped on the new. It took longer to remove the part from the box than to install it.

Really nothing to it, especially since the original seal was coming apart. I just ripped it the rest of the way apart and removed it, then slid the new one on in its place.

Pulled off the old torn seal & in about 15 seconds had the new one put on, couldn't have been easier.
