If your engine does not start, it stops soon, or speed does not increase, these are all indicators that you might need a replacement gasoline filter (fuel filter). This is an OEM Makita gasoline filter and is sold separately. This part should be cleaned and inspected monthly or every 50 operating hours (whichever comes first). To check the fuel filter, remove the fuel tank cap, drain the fuel to empty the tank. If the fuel filter is slightly clogged, it can be cleaned. If it is hard or heavily filled with dirt and debris, replace it. Now push the new fuel filter into the bottom of the tank.
