The ice dispenser would only dispense crushed ice, Fridge door cluncked when opening and closing
For the ice dispenser, I read a blog that pointed me right to the solenoid that controls the linkage for the crushed /cubed ice.I first unplugged the fridge. Then removed the ice maker basket. Removed 2 ea screws from each side of the supports of the lower brackets. Then lifted the tray assy off the mounting bracket, moving the front of the bracket down you can then unhook the power/control connector.
The tray then comes right out. Once out you remove two screws that hold a plastic plate on. With this removed you can see the solenoid that actuates the linkage for the ice cube and crushed ice. You then remove 2 ea machine screws that hold the solenoid in. Remove grd. wire. and pull power wires off tabs. You can then remove the solenoid by sliding it out of the plastic retainer. With it out you install the new plunger and reassemble in the reverse order. 15 mins tops.
The main Refidgerator door, made a cluncking sound. Lube didn't help. I removed the door by removing the top screw from the plastic cover, then slide it forward, then remove the two screws that hold the hinge on and then lifting the door off, once off the lower nylon hinge bearing comes right out of the door, the plate is removed with a screw driver. Installed in reverse order and cluncking was gone. 10 mins

Ice maker wouldn't change from crushed to cubed ice
First I pulled the ice tray out so I could see the solenoid housing/ice tray support(1 unit). Below the ice tray there are 2 screws that hold the solenoid housing/ice tray support. After removing those the assembly lifts up so you can see the wiring harness to disconnect. I pulled it out and removed the 2 screws to open it up. There is 2 screws holding the solenoid in place and one ground wire. This was an easy fix and I know I saved a lot of money.

ice maker is stuck on crushed ice.
We had someone to come and look at it and we were told it was the solenoid valve. The repairman unstuck it for us and said when it does it again, he would have to order the part. We took it upon ourselves to order the part and DIY. We replaced the part that we were told was the problem and "guess what" it's still not fixed. It's still shooting out crushed ice. Will have to call repair guy back out here to see what we did wrong.

Makes ice cube but wont switch to crushed what is the problem
For model number FFHB2740PP5A
Hi Ron,
Thank you for your question. Crushed cubes is actually the default on your appliance when dispensing ice, so it is likely that your solenoid assembly is the issue. I would advise testing the part with a multi meter to double check. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

How difficult is it to change the crused/cube ice solenoid assembly?
For model number LFHB2741PF5A
Hello Betty, Thank you for the question. Previous customers have said it was a easy repair. Here is a repair story from a previous customer. For model number FGSS2635TF0
Hello Brad, Thank you for the question. Yes, the Ice Dispenser Solenoid is the most common issue when the dispenser only dispenses Crushed or Cubed ice and not both. We hope this helps.

I replaced the auger motor on my Frigidaire refrigerator fghb2844lfe but the auger motor still not turning. How can i test the solenoid to see if that is the problem?
For model number FGHB2844LFE
Hi Jorge, Thank you for the question. The solenoid controls the crushes or cubed ice option. You can try to switch it from cubed to crushed to see if it dispenses and the solenoid is in the down position. Also make sure the ice lever is making contact with the switch on the ice maker. Hope this helps!

Kenmore refrigerator will not dispense ice, it makes ice, but will not dispense cube or crush ice
For model number 253.70313211
Hi Augustus, thank you for your question. The first two parts that you should check would be your dispenser solenoid and this crushed/cubed ice solenoid. They can be tested with a multi meter. We have a video that shows how to use a multi meter here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. Good luck with your repair.

My ice maker is stuck on the crushed ice cycle and will not switch back to the cube cycle other than that everything works fine.
For model number PLHS267ZCB2
Hi Beverly, Thank you for the question. The solenoid controls the crushes or cubed ice option. You can try to switch it from cubed to crushed to see if it dispenses and the solenoid is in the down position. The Solenoid may be defective and need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

My unit will not make large cubes how dos the ice dispenser work
For model number Ew23bc85ks4
Hello Dan, We are glad you asked! Poor water flow affects your ice maker produces ice cubes. Too little water can cause the cubes to come out too small or hollow. Freezer temperatures below -10°F can cause ice cubes to freeze too quickly on the outside, which may trigger the thermostat in the ice maker to eject the cubes before they’ve become completely solid in the middle. The Water Inlet Valve PS7321353 or Temperature Sensor PS1765215 may be the issue. We hope this is of some help to you.
