Ice maker would not dispense and made a loud clunking sound
First I replaced a cone shaped piece at the rear of the auger. That worked for about 20 minutes and it snapped off the middle. Same as original problem. Then I replaced the whole damn bucket and auger assembly. Works like new. Should have done that 1st and saved $24 and a week.

Plastic circle rotor at back of ice bucket kept breaking into smaller plastic pieces that mingled with the ice and each time you got ice you had to check for plastic pieces.
Purchased new auger & bucket assembly and just put it into freezer and tossed out the whole defective bucket / auger assembly. It would have been too difficult to just replace the plastic disk / rotor at the back of the ice bucket; also soo expensive if a repair person were involved. Suggestion: make the back disk / rotor plate of more break resistant material, i.e. metal of tougher plastic. Thank you.

Ice would not feed
Found that the plastic end piece was broken in two where the auger attaches at the rear of the ice tray. Purchased new one and installed. Lasted about 1 day. Purchased the whole assembly and it now works great.

Broken Auger Assembly
First tried to fix old auger. Bad way to go. Spent $30 in parts and didn't work. Don't mess around. Order this whole thing, slide the old one out and the new one in and you're good to go. I wish I would have done this in the first place.

"plastic" retainer/bushing in rear of ice bucket damaged

old unit was worn out from over use
simply push new ice bucket into position and your done. works better than new! saved 200.00 from calling in a tech for the repair. the part sent is a original GE part not an aftermarket part.

Ice cube guide on auger shaft sheared loose.
Pulled out old bucket asy. and pushed new asy. into position. Hardly worth talking about. More important is that this is a GREAT place to find appliance parts. Shipping is super fast too.

Ice Auger Broken Twice
This is second ice bucket auger I had to replace, don't know why it's breaking , but partselect was great to work with, replaced the broken part, was fast and very nice to help. I really appreciated their service. There was no repair, I mean, open the box, take out broken auger box, put in new one. No possibility of error.

Is part number 357 suppose to spin freely without the auger rotating? How do I know if I need to replace this part? I recently had to melt some fuse ice cubes that was jamming. Now that I have remove it, I noticed the free spinning part.

The helix must be tightly keyed to the auger shaft so that they turn together to push ice into the crusher. If it spins freely, it generally indicates that the helix is broken or stripped.
