My LG gas dryer heat duct appears needing replacement. It has definite signs of high heat damage. Is this normal or should I be looking for something else to fix or adjust to reduce this happening to a new replacement of part (F200)

Is there anything else I should be planning to replace that would protect a new duct? Thank you!
For model number DLG7188RM
Hi David, thank you for your question! Based on our research, you may have a damaged high-limit thermostat, part number PS16878105. The thermostat attaches on the blower housing. It monitors and helps regulate the temperature inside the dryer. Your heat duct may have got damaged because of overheating. We would recommend checking the high-limit thermostat to fix the issue. You may also need to replace the heat duct if it is already damaged. Good luck with your repair!
I need to replace the heat duct assembly on my dryer because it looks like the coating has burned off and is now leaving marks on my clothes. How do I prevent this from happening again after I replace the part ? Is it because I use propane ?
For model number DLG3601V
Hi Ashley, thank you for the question. Propane does not directly cause the burnt coating on the heat duct. To prevent the heat duct assembly, part number PS3526481, from burning and leaving marks on your clothes, consider the following steps:
1. Ensure the new heat duct assembly is installed correctly. Misalignment or improper installation can cause overheating.
2. A clogged lint filter can restrict airflow, leading to overheating. Clean the lint filter before every use.
3. Check the exhaust duct for blockages or lint buildup. Clean it regularly to ensure proper airflow.
4. Overloading the dryer can strain the heating system. Follow the recommended load capacity.
5. Ensure the dryer is properly vented to the outside. Poor ventilation can cause heat to build up inside the dryer.
We hope this information helps!

How to repair the heat duct assembly. Difficult time disassembling to get to part. Thank you.
For model number DLGX7188WM
Hi Pam,
Thank you for your question. You will have to take off the entire back panel and the top panel of your machine to be able to comfortably get to this part. It is attached to the backside of your drum by a few screws. Once you have removed those screws, you should be able to remove this part from the rest of the duct leading out of the machine and replace it. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
