Remove door seal and cam shaft (one piece). Remove broken cam by removing Philips head screw. Replace broken cam with new cam and reassemble. The actual repair took about 15 minutes however the majority of time was spent figuring out that the door seal and cam shaft had to be removed, no tools required.

May i get instructions on installation of part # ps3522957, cam shaft (refrigerator door closing latch). The instructions that come with the part say only to pry off the door gasket, but there appears to be a long, spring-loaded shaft on which this part fits. A more detailed exploded view or a video would be very helpful. Thanks!!

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. To begin this repair, first open the left side refrigerator door. With the door open, the first thing you have to do is remove the trim that covers the gasket. Just carefully pull it off and unsnap it. Once it has been removed, you may set it aside. The next step is to take the gasket out of the frame on the side of the door where the cam shaft is. It is held in place by a couple of plastic tabs. Use a flat head screw driver and release them. There should be one at the top and one on the bottom. With the tabs released, you can now get behind the gasket and pull it out. At the top of the door, pull the gasket out of the way, just enough so you can remove the screw securing the cam shaft. Remove the old cam shaft and insert the new one. Secure it with the screw. Once the new cam shaft is in place, you can now put the door gasket back in the door. You want to make sure that the plastic trim piece goes on the on the backside of the frame. Once you have it place, you can lift up the gasket on the other side and make sure with the spring that there is one tab in behind and one tab on top and then you can push the upper and lower locking tabs in. With the gasket back in place, you can now put the door trim back on. Make sure the locking tabs are in place and snap it back into place. Restore power to the refrigerator and everything should now work for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello John, thank you for your question. The right side is PS3522957 and the left is PS3522958. If the rod is fine, it shouldn't have to be replaced as well. I hope this helps!

Hi! My right-side door doesn't close properly, it will often just bounce back open or stay slightly ajar after closing or closing the left door. I noticed the white plastic cam shaft is very loose. It still seems screwed to the rod inside and it itself isn't broken (I think). Would it be the rod that needs to be replaced that is broken? I'm assuming the rod would come with the Gasket Holder Assembly - Right Side PS3524357? Thanks!
