The glass cooktop was cracked.
I removed the front control panel. The trick is that the 2 screws are only visible when you open the oven door. Make sure the power is turned off, wires and terminals are accessible. The cooktop has 2 latches in the back and 2 screw brackets in the front. When you remove the old cooktop, you will see how the cooktop connects to the stove top. Unscrew the 2 screws to the front brackets and remove the metal bar and black insulator. Slide the old cooktop off by pulling towards you or to the front of the range. Clean the electric elements, I vacuumed them. Slide the new cooktop in and ensure the 2 latches in the back slide into the stove top. Seat the cooktop and ensure the 2 bracket screw holes line up. Replace the metal bar and black insulator. Replace the 2 screws into the front brackets. Replace the front control panel and the 2 screws. Done!
