D/W would not drain. Water standing in bottom.
It is a simple process to replace the drain solenoid on these dishwashers, having replaced several in the past few months.
After removing the front bottom panels, I removed the 2 screws holding the old solenoid, unplugged the wire harness, and then switched over the springs to the new solenoid. Assembly was installing 2 screws, and plugging in the wire harness.
I work on a 260 + unit property, as well as working for a property management company who rents single family homes.

Dishwasher not draining
Actually, the problem started with a Timer Motor failure, and that let the dishwasher run for 4 hours (doh!). Immediately, I tested and ordered the timer, which unfortunately didn't come as just a motor, it came as an assembly. I installed it, and the dishwasher ran the cycle just fine.
Except it didn't drain.
After poking around, I noticed the drain solenoid had apparently been overworked; the timer must have failed on DRAIN. The solenoid was severely overheated, and thankfully didn't cause a fire, but it was somewhat melted. Replaced the solenoid, and all is well, especially when my wife was eyeballing a $1000 Bosch!

dishwasher didn't pump out water
with electric power and water source turned off,I first bailed out the water from tub then I pulled dishwasher out from under cabinet . Then I removed the motor and pump and put it on the table. I took a digital photo so I could remember exactly how everything was assembled. I checked for clogs and damage and realized that the solonoid casing had melted around the armature link assembly . I Looked at diagram for parts name and number and ordered from parts select. In the meantime I put a temporary one feed valve on hot water feed line so I could have access to hot water in kitchen while I waited for parts wich were here in a couple of days. Put it all back and it runs fine. Thank for your help

Water not draining from dishwasher
This is a great website. I ordered my part on Wednesday night and it arrived Saturday morning without paying any extra for shipping. Plus since I am a female, this website enabled me to easily and affordably make the repair myself without having to worry about a repair man trying to take advantage of someone that they think they can.
I first made sure that there was nothing stuck in the drain area inside of the dishwasher. That meant I had to bail out all the standing water and then unscrew the mesh cover from the bottom. Since there was nothing in there I ordered a new solenoid.
First I unplugged the dishwasher. Then I removed the screws with a screwdriver that held the bottom cover on the dishwasher. Once I could see the installed solenoid, I put together the pieces of the replacement solenoid that I bought so I was sure to install the new one correctly. That did not require any tools. Then I unscrewed the two screws that held the solenoid in place and removed the little metal ring from the shaft which was the last piece holding it in place. Getting that ring off was tricky. I ended up using a pair of tweezers to pull it off. After that I put the new part on and screwed it in with the two screws provided. The little metal ring went on much easier than the old one came off. I screwed the bottom cover back on and voila! my dishwasher was fixed.

dishwasher was not draining left water in bottom of machine the drain solenoid was melted.
First I took out the two screws that hold the drain solenoid on the unit and took off the c- clip that held the arm on the shaft if you have a digital camera take a picture to make sure you can get it back together the same way.. Then put together new unit and attatched putting the c-clip back on. Ran it through some cycles to make sure the solenoid was working. Four days later the solenoid is melted again, the timer must have an intermittentant problem I should have replaced the timer and the soleniod both at the same time. Make sure you dont make the same mistake I did. Now I will be buying a new dishwasher instead of putting any more time and money into this one.

Water would not drain.
The washer ran through a full cycle, but the water didn't drain out. I pulled out the drain vent and checked for foreign objects. Also checked at the drain hose/disposal joint and there was no blockage. After removing the bottom panels I noticed the solenoid was shot. Cylinder was burnt up and stuck solid in the up position. I went online and found that a main cause of this can be from the timer causing the solenoid to over exert and burn out. I decided if I was going to order parts and dig into a repair I should replace both. For the timer it is just a matter of unscrewing the inner door panel and unplugging the old timer. Then inserting new one. Couple of things I ran into were the door is no longer heavy enough to stay down so I grabbed a waffle iron as a weight to hold it down. Also will need to unscrew the set screw on the Door lock latch's bottom side. Pay close attention to how it was together helps. For the solenoid I removed the main screws holding the unit in place as well as the c-clip holding the plastic arm. Undo the spring and plug and the whole unit comes out. Reverse these steps with the new solenoid to install.
Water stays in the bottom because the solenoid burned out.
It is pretty easy to replace the parts because the new and old parts are identical. I unplugged wire connection, removed the two screws and one small metal piece that fixes the plastic moving part, then put back with new parts. A little bit extra time may needed due to small space in that location, also the small or flexable screw driver is needed.

water wouldn't pump out
The Solenoid black plastic had melted around the solenoid shaft. I unplugged the solenoid, removed 2 screws,then one C clip and pulled the the unit out. The new solenoid is difficult to install all together as the shaft it goes on holds it all together when both springs are installed - - so I installed in one piece, with the 2 screws, except for the white plastic thing, the C clip that holds it on the shaft, and one of the two springs - - these three items went on separately. I wanted to thank the help your expert gave, but I couldn't figure how to do that.

Water wasn't draining in the bottom of the dishwasher
First of all this site is awesome. So helpful in diagnosing and ordering the part. I highly recommend!
So, the solenoid was melted and needed to be replaced. If you're looking from the front of the dishwasher it's on the left side and it has 2 screws and a c ring. I couldn't get the c ring back on, but the piece stays on without it. Works fine now.

Dishwasher will fill but doesn't drain. What you turn the timer knob it doesn't make the distinctive clunk sound when it changes cycles. I'm thinking it is the timer has gone bad. Is this most likely the problem?

Thank you for your question. I would suggest testing your drain solenoid and your timer both. It could be either of those parts causing the issue. If they are both testing find however, you might have to look into your motor being the problem. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My dishwasher is leaking where the drain solenoid kit attaches to the shaft. Is there a seal that is supposed to go around that shaft i believe that is where my water is coming from? Thank you

How do i determine if the drain solenoid is working properly? As i turn the control knob through the cycle the solenoid activates, but doesn't seem to stay down long enough to drain. The problem i have is not filling with water. The float switch tests ok, float not stuck. Replaced the inlet valve which i thought was bad (tested at 1.15k ohm), but still no water. Water supply is good to the inlet valve.

Dishes are fair to poor on the clean side. Some water always in bottom of the floor that does not look clean and clear. It seams to go through the cycles ok

Hi Jack, Thank you for the question. I suggest first checking the Impeller and Seal Kit. Make sure the impeller is intact and not damaged.Also check to make sure the Sump and the cover are clean and undamaged. Hope this helps!

Dishwasher works fine except when the drain solenoid engages to allow the water to pump out - there is a water drip that domes from the plastic lever on the top of the drain solenoid. This only happens when the drain solenoid is engaged to pump out the water. The drain solenoid works fine except it leaks when it is engaged.

According to our research, the issue is most probably related to the valve shaft seal, part number PS263930, also check the drain hose, part number PS260686, is properly clamped and not clogged, and the drain solenoid, part number PS260117, is properly attached. Dishwasher will drain sometimes. Sometimes I can hear the solenoid activate but it doesn't pull the cam down far enough/fast enough.The solenoid seems fast and strong but occasionally the dishwasher fails to drain.Working the cam by hand everything feels free.

My dishwasher doesn’t drain. It used to drain into the under the sink food grinder and I could see the water drain. However, now I hear a motor kick in to try to drain it but no water comes out. The solenoid opens the drain valve flapper to drain the dishwasher. Checking the drain solenoid for continuity using a multimeter might help. Good luck with the repair!
Hi, my dishwasher is not draining, l pulled out the piston and nut assembly, and the rubber plunger is quite worn. Do l need the complete assembly, or can l just replace the plunger? Second, l found the chopper loose in the drain . Do l have to pull out the whole motor assembly to attach it, or will my dishwasher run without it. Dale

Hello Dale, thank you for your question. Yes, it is best to replace the entire assembly, not just the plunger. I believe the whole motor assembly would have to be removed to reattach the chopper. The chopper is very important as it chops up the food residue for easy draining and filtering. I hope this helps!
