My oven preheats very slowly in normal bake mode. The bake element barely starts to glow on preheat. Is this a bad burner or the control board? There was a single popping sound after use once and then this behavior started.
For model number FPEF3077QFN
Hi Marty, thank you for reaching out. The slow preheating and the bake element barely glowing, especially after a single popping sound, indicate a faulty bake element. The popping sound likely indicates the moment the element internally broke or shorted out. You may need to replace the bake element, part number PS2364173. We hope this solves your problem!

I removed the baking element and tested it with a olm meter. It read 16 olms. is this acceptable.
My problem is the oven takes longer than normal to heat up and only reaches 255 degrees after 45mins. Is the element weak?
Please help.
For model number 79095053310
Hello John, thank you for contacting us. A reading of 16 ohms is within the normal range for a bake element (typically 10–30 ohms depending on wattage). Check the temperature sensor, part number PS1528542. If it's drifted out of calibration or failing, it tells the board the oven is hotter than it really is, so the board cuts power to the element too early. Test it with your ohmmeter, at room temperature it should read ~1080–1100 ohms. Glad to be of assistance!
