The ice maker receives water from the water inlet valve and then holds the water in the ice mold until the water freezes solid. It then automatically ejects the ice and refills to continue the process until the ice storage in is full.

Broken ice maker
I have a lesson learned for those looking for the ice maker replacement part online. Originally I tried to look up the replacement ice maker by using the tool online that included my make, model and series. That ended with my receiving a part that had the water receptacle on the wrong side. I realized after this experience that if I took the ice maker out, then I could see a part number. When I entered the part number on the website, then immediately the correct replacement part came up. Regarding installation, it was a breeze, just loosen the screws and unplug the ice maker. To install, connect the ice maker, put it in place and then retighten the screws. Takes about 60 seconds IF you have the right part.

Ice does not shut off when container is full

Hi Thomas, thanks for the great question. We recommend inspecting the Control Rod (PS1526404) and Spring (PS1526576) in the ice bucket. The ice maker control rod is designed to sense the level of ice in the ice bin. Ice maker control rods should flip up and down easily. Once the ice bin is full, the control rod will turn the ice maker off until the ice level is lowered. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair.
