What is the metal part that holds the burner knob in place. ..our metal shaft is broken

Hi, second knob from the left on our kitchen aid range (+- 11 years old but good) came off. I put it back but it's loose. Only a single surface heats up now. Is it worth fixing this problem? If yes, can i do it myself or should i call a service? If service, what is approximate cost of repair? Should we consider buying a new range? Thank you.

Hello Danko, thank you for writing. The Knob may be stripped and need to be replaced. The knob you are referring to on your model is Smart Duel Knob part number PS11749166. For the element not functioning as it should, you will want to consider replacing either the Dual Infinite Switch part number PS11747407, or the Dual Surface Element part number PS11764902.
