Problem starting
For model number UT20046
Hi J, thank you for your inquiry. If the trimmer has old fuel in the tank, drain it completely and refill with a fresh 50:1 mix of unleaded gas and quality 2-cycle oil. Old fuel breaks down into a sticky varnish that clogs the carburetor passages and prevents starting. If the fuel is fresh, remove the air filter and spray a small burst of carburetor cleaner directly into the intake, then pull the starter cord. If it briefly fires and dies, the carburetor is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Also, remove the spark plug and inspect it for heavy carbon buildup, wet fuel, or a cracked insulator. Replace the spark plug, part number PS10018285, it is damaged or has heavy carbon buildup. Finally, check the fuel lines inside the tank for cracks, brittleness, or rot. A cracked fuel line draws in air instead of fuel and will prevent the engine from starting regardless of the condition of the other components. Glad to be of help!
