RCS-48 Garland Range - Instructions

just removed two screws - took old unit out - put new unit in.

Removed the old part by removing the clips and wire connectors. Then placed the new switch in place and reapplied the wire connectors. Tried to then place the new clips on the posts but the clips were very fragile and they broke. Then decided to thread the posts and use nuts. Used a minature die to thread the posts, applied washers and nuts and finished the job.

Turn power off to stove. Removed two screws and lift out switch assembly. Removed each connection one at a time and placed them on the new switch. i tried the compression fittings that were sent but they were to small as I had read elsewhere so I used two small nuts to reinstall the switch. I took less than 30 minutes.

The hardest part was removing the old switch. It had locking washers that were very hard to remove. After that it was a breeze. Be sure to turn off the electricity to the oven.

I'm sure I saved a ton of money and wife was ecstatic, it had been broken for a year or more.

The two mounting clips supplied with the switch would not fit onto the two studs in the die casted plate (too small) . In removing one of the old clips, the stud broke off. Thus I had to break off the other stud and drill out the area to allow two screws to be inserted to mount the switch securely.

Removed old switch, but when I tried to install the new one the round slide on retainers that hold the switch in place were cheaply made and broke. I had to go to the hardware store to find replacement parts. Electric terminals matched correctly and slipped off and on just fine. New switch works great.

Removed the old switch by essentially destroying it with a screw drive and pliers. Had to drive to the hardware store to purchase push nuts that fit.

A little difficult getting the old retaining washers off of the old part and placing the new washers on the new switch. I ended up using a nutdriver on the retaining nut and hitting it with a hammer. This worked great!! Make sure to record which wire color goes where on the old switch before removing wires. TURN OFF POWER BEFORE!! This is 220V. It can hurt you bad.

Took out a couple of screws and put in the new part. PartSelect was fast and efficient. Highly recommended.

The toggle switch I ordered is a little different then the original one. The original one has three head and one of the head is shared by two circles controlled by the switch. The switch I ordered has 4 head which mean it has two separate circles. I had to short circle the two middle heads to make it work. Other than this, the switch works perfectly!

wanted a fresh clean look on the burners since they were old and getting dirty and blackened from use. Easy to replace with new one.

Found the part number on an old box, ordered the part and it arrived next day. Installed easily and is working perfectly.

I removed the pan and then the burner assembly. Used a nutdriver to remove the old front burner. Replaced with the new part, tightened it on, and tested the new burner. Worked first time. Extremely easy. It took less than 5 minutes to replace.
