had to remove ice maker and several panels to get to the fan. wires for fan encapsulated so had to cut old and new wires then solder them together while working inside the small freezer area. not too bad all in all took about an hour to get it done. no more wind thru the trees noise and is working fine

I read instructions in all of the other repair stories everything went smooth no problems. Went and examined freezer door too see which type of door I had front or rear access. Popped off front LED panel, unpluged wires, removed 4 screws holding ice chute, removed 3 screws holding solenoid, slipped off solenoid pin, replaced all items in reverse order. This is one great site.

Unplugged the freezer. Then I gained access to the fan: remove the top freezer rack, remove the ice tray, remove the air flow manifold(needed to unscrew some screws), remove the manifold over the fan and cooling element. I unscrewed the fan mounting bracket. The fan motor's wires are plumbed through some plastic that i would have had to remove, so I decided instead to cut the wires and splice in the new fan motor. Then I put everything back together - the new motor works fine and doesn't make the whining noise.

I searched the site, found the part - solenoid, watched the "how to" video and the repair was a snap. Saved myself tons of money versus having a repair person come over. I do have an older model and needed to prop the front cover panel off with a screwdriver (just under the covering) saw this on a posting from another individual, thanks for the heads up.

Squeezed a flat blade screwdriver between the faceplate (buttons and lights) and the plastic part behind it and the front panel popped loose. I unscrewed the 4 cross-slotted screws on the panel behind the faceplate and could easily see the solenoid. I released the solenoid connector from the printed circuit board and removed its 3 screws. It slides out. Replace with new part in reverse.

1) remove the ice bucket. 2) remove light cover and bulb. 3) remove back panel with 2 screws. 4) remove fan shield. 5) unlug 2 elec connections. 6) remove fan housing. 7) extract wiring grommet and use exacto knife to slice thru grommet along the length of it to release wires. don't cut light wires. 8) cut up old fan/light electrical plug to free wire nubs for light. 9) install nubs in new fan plug. 10) remove old fan motor, pull blades. 11) install blades on new fan moter and install fan into housing. 11) reinstall

Remove dispenser assembly in freezer door & replace solenoid.

Used awl tto release the front panel. Used screw driver to release the solenoid. Ordered a new solenoid. Reverrsed the removal

First I unplug solenoid from board. I then removed 3 screws holding it in place. I removed bad solenoid (it was very apparent once I took it out). I placed the new solenoid in place, replaced the 3 screws and plug the cord into the circuit board. Success!

Since the mechanisms were in the freezer icemaker area, we deduced it was the fan motor. Ordered that from your store and it was delivered to our door in two days. Great service.

The part was replaced and our refrigerator has been quiet for the first time since we moved in almost four years ago and the refrigerator was new.

Removed food from Freezer, Unplugged refrigerator. Removed light bulb cover and ligt bulb. Unplugged and removed Ice maker and motor. Removed air duct cover from motor. Unplugged and removed evaporator housing and fan. Pulled fan blade off. Unscrewed brackets from fan motor, removed dust cap from top of motor and grommet from bottom. New motor came with 6 pin connector and four pins for evaporator fan motor. Cut the harness grommet to separate the light bulb wiring from the evaporator motor's. Pushed the the old light bulb pins (red and orange) from old connector and push them in to the new fan motor connector. Reversed the process and no more noise

Removing the trim ring around the control panel is the hard part. Be sure to watch the video on how this is done.
Follow the video instructions on how to remove the solenoid and you will not have any trouble.

Replace solenoid which controls the despenser door. It is usually rusted. The front panel snaps off easily. Then there are 4 screws for the panel. Once the panel is off, the solenoid is exposed. There are 3 screws for the solenoid. You may want to spray dw40 on the screws if they are also rusted. Make sure you turn fridge off before performing this repair.

I watched the video on this site and read the comments here. Everything went as stated. I simply removed the front cover from the door, carefully pushing in the two plastic dimples to release the plastic piece. I used a very small screwdriver to get in the holes and pushed carefully while gently prying on the piece. It popped right out. I then carefully removed the three wire harnesses from the back of the cover. I then removed the four phillips screws that hold the cup pushing assembly on. I found this piece to be rather dirty/black moldy. I spent more time cleaning this with a toothbrush and soaking it than I did with the total repair of the solenoid, but I have much better piece of mind. I could now reach the solenoid, on the upper right hand corner. I removed the three screws and the solenoid was left hanging by the rusted top hook. I gently wiggled it off of the plastic arm that operates the flapper door. The new solenoid comes with the clip able to move freely and with no rust. Install the new solenoid in the same place and place the top hook onto the arm for the flapper door. Note, I WD40ed the screws and filed some of the rust off of the heads. I suggest ordering screws, like everybody says. But you can clean them up. I did this just in case I need to do this install again. The rest is just a matter of buttoning up everything. It is easy, don´t be intimidated. Anybody can do it, if you are the least bit handy and patient.
