The water dispenser is dispensing water very slowly. I’ve changed the water filter but it does not help. I’ve put the bypass plug for the filter and the water flow is still very low. What could be the cause?
For model number PFE29PSDCSS
Hi Mike, thank you for question. It sounds like your issue might actually be the water inlet valve itself. You can test the part with a multi meter to be sure. The solenoids on it should be reading anywhere between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. This would be the part number: PS6883668. Good luck with your repair.
Compressor no working . Chec the terminals at the compressor ohm test shw compressor is ok
For model number PFE29PSDCSS
Hi Noel,
Thank you for your question. If the compressor is not working, but it tests fine, check the condenser fan motor to see if it is working. Begin by unplugging your refrigerator from the power source and then remove the rear access panel to locate the condenser fan motor, it is usually found at the bottom rear of the appliance. Once you have located it, look for any debris or obstructions that could be preventing the fan from moving freely. You should also inspect the condenser fan motor for any signs of wear or damage. If the fan motor is seized or worn, you will need a replacement condenser fan motor. Check the condenser coils as well. If they are dirty they can prevent the compressor from working. If they are dirty clean them. You should also check the temperature sensor and the electronic control board. You will need to test the temperature sensor with a multi-meter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may use as a general reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. Begin by unplugging your refrigerator, then remove the back panel of your refrigerator to locate the main control board. The thermistor(s) will be connected to the main control board. Remove the thermistor(s) from the appliance in order to test them. Before testing them, you will need to place the thermistor(s) in ice water for 5 minutes in order to bring the temperature to 32 degrees F. The thermistor(s) will produce different readings at different temperatures, and the suggested ranges below only apply to thermistors at a temperature of 32 degrees F. With the probes on the terminals and your multi-meter set to Rx1, you should receive a reading of 16,600 ohms (+/- 5 percent). If you receive a reading outside this range, you will need a replacement thermistor. The electronic control board will need to be checked visually for signs of damage, wear and burn marks. If it shows any of these signs, it will need to be replaced. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.
My Refrigerator is plugeed in by is not working. Ccmpletely defrosted. Help????
For model number PFE29PSDCSS
Hi Larry, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our understanding, we would recommend checking the inverter control board, part number PS12345457. It supplies voltage to the compressor. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

My fridge runs all the time. One evap motor was replaced recently but it continues to run. I'm told there are 2 fan motors. Is this correct? This has been an ongoing problem since 2013 when I bought it new. What else should be considered to check?
For model number PFE29PSDCSS
Hello Patricia, thank you for reaching out. Yes, your model comes with 2 evaporator fan motors, 1 for the freezer section, and 1 for the fresh food section. A refrigerator running constantly could indicate an issue with the defrost system. We would recommend cleaning the condenser coils first. If the problem persists, then you may need to check the defrost thermostat, part number PS8688283, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
I'm trying to change out the water filter and the new one won't fit.
For model number PFE29PSDCSS
Hello Chip, thank you for reaching out. The first thing to check is water filter compatibility. The water filter, part number PS10063209, is compatible with your model. For the installation of the water filter, use the following instructions:
1. Align the top of the water filter with the cartridge and push until the cartridge is fully seated.
2. While continuing to ensure the cartridge is fully seated in the holder, gently swing the filter inward until it is in the vertical position.
3. If the filter is not swinging easily, ensure it is properly aligned and fully seated in the cartridge holder.
We hope this information helps!
I went to a GE repair center to explain my problem, the service center reccomended that I have a techinician come out o look at it. $75.00 for the visit and what ever labor and materials wuld cost.
I went on line to see if there were others having this same problem and found that there were many with the same problem.
After reading some of the ways that people found out what was wrong ...it became a matter of three components, the timer, heater or thermostat.
I tried the most common component and the less expensive one first , the thermostat switch I installed it very easily snipping two wires and attaching the news using wire nuts I used the diagram on this website to pinpoint the component and there has not been a problem since.
I applied some tips learned by reading other reviews. So before I started I grabbed my trusty vise grip pliers and a small screw driver. I locked onto the switch actuator, the part that the refrigerator door pushes in, with the vise grips and pulled on it just hard enough to get the screw driver inserted in the right side to push in the catch clip so the switch could be pulled out further each time the catch clip was depressed to the next detent. Then I used the screw driver on the left site to encourage the switch past the detents on the left and very quickly the switch was out of the mount. The wires from the refrigerator pulled out with the old switch. I unplugged the old switch from the wires and plugged in the new switch and shoved the new switch back into the mount, wiggled it a couple of times to make sure it was secure and the job was done. Once I applied the vise gripes at first, the whole job took less than a minute.
