Our washer machine goes from sense to done, the lid latch light doesn't come on, where should i look first.
For model number mvw4505mw0
Hi Brandon, thank you for reaching out. We recommend checking the lid lock, part number PS16543458. It must send a "secured" signal for the machine to start. If the internal sensor or solenoid fails, the machine bypasses the cycle and goes directly to “Done,” requiring lid lock replacement to restore the electrical signal needed for the wash and spin phases. We hope this solves your problem!
Washer quit mid cycle, tub stayed full and lid stayed locked. I got lid open (broke the latch ) emptied water, and clothes out still stuck mid cycle. Would a clutch kit be the problem ? I know I need a new latch assembly but need to fix the no spinning out problem. There has been a bit of a squeaking noise for the last couple weeks when it was spinning and draining out.
For model number MVW4505MW0
Hi Dave, thank you for your inquiry. The latch assembly for your model is part number PS16543458. The weeks of squeaking during spin and drain, the washer stopping mid-cycle with the tub full, and the tub not spinning out, the most likely cause is a worn clutch assembly, part number PS10057144. It engages the spin and wash cycles, and when it wears out it produces exactly the squeaking noise you described before eventually failing completely. Glad to be of help!
Watched a video to get a general idea. Moved washer to garage. Raised lid, supported with s-hook and light chain. Front springs were easy, except no hole for the rod to hang in so used chain and small screwdriver through mounting hole. Back springs were not as easy. Finally removed the back panel to get to the rods. Bingo, much easier and only took 5 min to remove the back panel. reassemble and she works like a charm. Suggest to find a video reflecting your particular brand and model as all are similar but uniquely different. Easy project though.
Used video provided, but while reinstalling shocks pull the shock absorbers thru holes in washer deck using a stiff wire or a metal coat hanger will also work. This made installation so much easier!
