MAT14PDAWW0 Maytag Washer - Instructions

This model is a compact / apartment size washer and the repair was fairly easy. The lid is held on by 2 spring clips on the front and 2 tabs on the rear. I used a screwdriver to pop the top off the clips, removed the screws on the tabs, unplugged the switch and set the top aside. Took out 2 screws (all screws are 5/16" hex head) on the left side panel (facing the front of the machine) and set it to the side. The pump is clearly visible at this point. Tipped the washer and propped it up for easier access. Removed the 2 hose clamps (set a pan underneath first) and the pump is held in place by 2 spring clips. Popped those off and the pump came right out. Put the new pump in, snapped the spring clips on, put the hose clamps back in place, the side panel and the lid. Not at all hard to do. About 30 to 45 minutes and I was doing laundry again.

Old machine and vibrations are still there but weaker. Seemed to turn counter clock wise. Put a 4x4 board behind in order to stop the twisting, and keep hoses safe from vibrating and causing wear. Stays fairly stable now.

Tried to follow videos. Couldn't figure how to raise top. Laid machine on front used pliers to unclip bracket and clips holding hose. Took 10 minutes to work it this way.

Well, after resolving Part Select (PS) shipping issues (PS sent me two refrigerator glass shelves instead of a Tub Spring); And as it turns out they sent me the wrong part for the suspension pads, which I have returned for credit. It takes 3-4 weeks to obtain your credit BTW.

Well after removing the cabinet, agitator, wash basket, plastic tub, all 5 springs, & pump suction line, I was able to access the Tub wear pads and suspension pads. As it turns out the suspension pads looked good.
Thank God, as PS had sent wrong parts. I replaced the wear pads, the 5 springs, and reversed the disassembly process. Took about 6 hours.
But washer works fine now, still vibrates, but does not walk across floor any more.

I used pliers to loosen the hose clamps and the small springs that hold the water pump to the water pump motor. The old pump then came off by simply pulling it off. The new was was the reverse. Everything worked well.
The biggest problem had been finding that the water pump was leaking. I first tried to fix it with epoxy but it is apparentlly made of nylon and the expoxy didn't stick well.
I am still annoyed that Whirlpool makes a water pum that leads so soon. The Whirlpool site showed my model number as non existent. Later, after purchasing the right one from this third party site, Whirlpool sent email that they found the model number and gave me a much higher replacement price for the pump.

I tipped up the machine and had my wife hold it.
I removed the two hoses with water pump pliers. Then , I removed the two clips with my fingers. The old pump came off in my hands. I installed the two hoses on the new pump with my hands, lined up the pump drive with the hole pushed it in and re-attached the two clips with my hands.
The whole job took maybe five minutes. The hardest part of the job was conviencing my wife that there was no danger involved with the process.

We had to take the motor off and find the part that holds the spring, took longer to fix as we are older people and took a brake after every spring. We used YouTube videos to help us I am thankful for this site and cheap prices.

Unplugged the washing machine. Removed the two philipps screws holding the control panel. Swung it up , disconnected interlock connector, and pried the two clips. Removed the top and cabinet assembly to have easy access to the leaking pump.
Disconnected the two hoses connected to the pump. Used the plier to loosen the hose clamps. Removed the two retainers securing the pump. Removed the old and damaged pump and replaced with the new one. Reinstalled the retainers back on. Reconnected the hoses and clamps. Put the top and cabinet assembly back on. Snapped back the clips and reconnected the interlock connector. Screwed the control panel assembly to the cabinet. Done. Ran the washing machine to check for leaks. Found none.

Using the part select website, I discovered that 64% of the time, replacing the water pump will fix the drain problem so I ordered that part. I laid the washer on it's back. And was able to unclip the water hoses, detach the pump and install the new one. The parts select website has great instructional videos to help but in this case, the video recommended removing the outer skin from the washer which I found unnecessary.

Just removed the old pump with a pair pliers and snapped the new one on. It was a snap

I made the mistake of ordering the parts without watching the video. I got everything I needed on my order except the special grease that was required, so I had to delay the completion of the repair and pay shipping again to get the grease -- this was my error. The repair was easy and didn't take too long, the video was right on, the parts fit exactly.

First of all, it would have been helpful to have two people take the housing off the frame. One to lift and the other to disconnect the hoses that need to come off the pump and the filler.

Second, THANK YOU to another person that posted about prying the pump from the motor and sanding it to accept the new pump. When I couldn't get the pump off the motor due to rust, I thought both the pump and motor were done. But I worked the pump off the motor shaft (I had to break the old pump, but it was toast anyway) and used a wire brush and sandpaper to clean the shaft. When I got the new pump, it slid on like a champ!

I also used the parts list that came with the washer to make sure I got all the parts back together in the right place. Like I said, I took too much apart and didn't pay attention to what I was doing for later reassembly. Even though the parts list that came with the washer is small and not to scale, it helped me put the thing back together.

I got my part when PartSelect promised and I got help here from the website. I will use this company whenever I need an appliance part.
