Why did glass turntable explode and break
For model number LFMV1846VFA
Hi Pat, thank you for your inquiry. Microwaves have tempered glass and are resistant to heat and shock. It is very unusual for one to break. However, there have been some instances of stress points occurring in the glass due to the extreme heat caused by continuous cooking. Tempered glass has the ability to spontaneously explode. Tempered glass is a lot stronger than regular, annealed glass, but that comes with the downside that sometimes this happens. The tempering process builds up a lot of internal forces in the glass and basically locks it into a shape that it is not happy about. So even a small crack in the glass will cause the whole thing to shatter while all the forces try to equilibrate. When it happens spontaneously, it is usually due to nickel sulfide inclusions in the glass, which over time can upset the glass to the point that it creates a small crack, which then cascades into everything shattering. We hope this information helps!

It’s popping like you have metal in the microwave when in use. I replaced the side plate and it worked twice then started popping again.
For model number LFMV1846VFA
Hi Donna, thank you for the question. Ensure that the waveguide cover has been installed correctly. Inspect the interior surface behind and around where the cover was located. Look for any damage to the metal, such as chipped paint, rust spots, or new burn marks. You may need to re-install the waveguide cover to fix the issue. We hope this information helps!

The Frigidaire oven the stove microwave latch is designed to fail. The mechanism is operated by the thinnest plastic hook secured to a fairly strong spring. When the hook breaks the latch no longer works so the light stays on and the microwave is inoperable. The hardest part of the repair is removing the door and reinstalling. Instructions are on the internet for the entire repair. Be sure to verify the actual length of the latch as there are several that look exactly alike but are of a different length. A temporary repair can be accomplished by using a small tie wrap and extending the spring to 4.5 cm.
