The evaporator coil freezes up in the fresh food(refrigerator, not freezer)section if I try to drop the unit temp below 40°F to get it to 38°F. At a unit sitting of 40°F, it will maintain 40°F for a couple of weeks before I notice it to start freezing up again. Any unit setting below 40°F, it will start freezing up in a couple of days. It doesn’t seem like there is a defrost heater in this section to prevent this from happening like there is in the freezer section. Very frustrating for this expensive refrigerator.

Ice maker paddle switch opens door but does not engage auger . I replaced auger motor but same results. I think it is a faulty paddle switch but i can't get to it to check if it is bad. The water switch works fine. Do you have any ideas?

Fresh food section air vent in the lower back wall ices up?
For model number KRSC503ESS01
PartSelect logo
Hi Fred, Thank you for your question. If the air vent in the back of the refrigerator is icing up, warm air maybe getting into the refrigerator. This would cause condensation to form on the walls of the fresh food section and would cause ice to form. Check the door gasket to see if it is sealing properly and do not keep the door open for long periods of time. If the gasket is not sealing properly, it will need to be replaced. Check the temperature of the refrigerator as well. If it is too high, reduce it. When storing food inside the refrigerator, make sure that it has cooled first. Storing warm food in the refrigerator can cause condensation to develop on the walls which will eventually freeze. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Lights inside refrigerator not working
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.

Light Switch broke
An easy job for smaller hands. Removed the two bolts holding the light cover. Removed two electrical connections from the old switch by pinching the retaining clip, removed the switch, snapped in the new one and re-attached the connectors. Your online illustrations helped me to know that the plastic housing for the light switch would only swing down so far and was not intended to be removed. Saved me from breaking that plastic cover's tabs. This home repair saved me more than 5 times the cost of hiring a professional to do it. Very happy homeowner.
